ABOUT POLAR FIELD SERVICES, INC.

We are a rare company. Since 1999, we've been taking our clients wherever they need to go, no matter how remote the location or challenging the conditions may be. We plan their expeditions, keep them safe in places that are anything but, and supply food, shelter, power, water, and waste removal. We then return the site to such a pristine condition no one would ever know we were there. We haven't been everywhere. Just a lot of places most people haven't.

Our team is made up of skilled people who are passionate about supporting cutting-edge science and making a difference in our world. We are looking to add more adventurous souls to our team!

YOUR ROLE AS A HELICOPTER OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

As a Helicopter Operations Coordinator, you are a vital member of our scientific research support team. Helicopters are a vital resource for remote Toolik Field station, and your job is to ensure that this resource is used in the best possible way. As part of your duties, you plan and coordinate the daily and weekly flight times for the helicopters, anticipating seasonal changes as you work out the logistics. Working closely with the scientific researchers, you ensure that they are aware of the schedule and informed of any changes that occur.

Organized and efficient, you keep accurate log entries of each flight, activity, passenger list, and group use. Using a variety of technologies, you track the operations of the helicopters and maintain an updated schedule online so that it can be viewed remotely. Safety is always your top concern, and the researchers know they can count on you to identify potential issues and address them right away. Your season at the station flies by as you work tirelessly to support the researchers and their important studies. You enjoy a job with purpose, and you feel great knowing you're playing a key role in such a great cause!

  • Education, experience, or training equivalent to a college degree or 5+ years of experience with aircraft operations, logistics, or resource coordination
  • Experience in a camp or field environment in Alaska or other Arctic landscapes
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, remote environment supporting science and research teams
  • Experience identifying safety issues
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, and Excel
