JOB DESCRIPTION: Education Consultant
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Education Services, the Education Consultant will provide leadership and support to school districts with instructional coaching, professional development, Local Control Accountability Plans, Differentiated Assistance and other curricular support. The Education Consultant will also assist the Education Services team in coordinating student programs and other related activities as assigned.
Examples of Duties:
Using the improvement science framework, assist teachers, sites and districts in utilizing data, and identifying curriculum resources and professional development needs when requested for the purpose of integrating curriculum, increasing and sustaining student achievement, and identifying factors contributing to achievement gaps.
Design services and facilitate program improvements (e.g. training, materials, instructional rounds, networks in school districts and across the county, etc.) for the purpose of implementing professional development program activities aligned with state, county and district initiatives.
Provide ongoing teacher training, coaching and modeling of effective, innovative and engaging instructional strategies to support students.
Manage or assist with the teacher and administrator Induction programs in conjunction with the accredited partnering agency.
Coordinate and facilitate small and large group meetings, workshops and communities of practice.
Participate in state level curriculum and instruction subcommittees and/or contribute to state work groups, as needed
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Education Services department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
Current evidence-based and innovative instructional strategies, technology applications, models or frameworks (UDL, MTSS, SEL) to support student achievement, well-being and behavior goals;
State and federal programs, California curriculum frameworks and standards and second language acquisition;
Methods, principles, and practices related to assigned programs;
Program and budget administration;
State Department of Education policies and regulations;
State Education codes.
Ability to:
Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as well as create and maintain partnerships among ICOE personnel, school district staff, and other local agencies.;
Work accurately with attention to detail under minimal supervision; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; adapt to periodic heavy workload; and, effectively communicate orally and in writing;
Plan, implement, assess and evaluate programs; interpret data from a variety of sources; listen and analyze problems and develop solutions; control quality of projects, schedules, and budgets; perform a wide range of professional, administrative, advocacy, and liaison duties, including monitoring budgets;
Upgrade skills and knowledge in order to meet changing job conditions and/or initiatives with attention to current trends and best practices within curriculum, instruction and assessment; meet challenges with flexibility and empathy;
Manage time effectively to meet established timelines; maintain records and prepare reports; and travel within the county and state as needed.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Familiarity with UDL and the MTSS Framework and increasing leadership experience
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
At least four years teaching experience K-12 required
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree

California Teaching Credential
Administrative Services Credential preferred
Valid Class C California Driver’s License
