We are looking for a full-time Editorial Assistant to support the President and Publisher of Henry Holt. The ideal candidate will be able to efficiently manage a diverse set of responsibilities, and has an active interest in a broad range of fiction and nonfiction projects. Main responsibilities will be to manage administrative tasks and provide editorial support.
What you'll do:
- Administrative support including: coordinate meeting schedules, keep track of upcoming deadlines, process expenses, ship packages, make travel arrangements, etc.
- Prepare and traffic paperwork related to all parts of the publishing process including: metadata input, tip sheets, contract requests, check requests, author questionnaires, author photos, production memos, etc.
- Act as a professional and responsive liaison between authors, agents, and other internal departments, including Production, Managing Editorial, Marketing, Contracts, Publicity, and Art
- Assist in the acquisition process: log, read, and evaluate submissions, generate comparable titles, research ideas, run P&Ls, draft rejection letters, participate in weekly editorial meetings, etc.
- Proofread, copyedit, and collaborate with supervisors on tip sheet copy, catalog copy, and jacket copy

- Attention to detail and excellent follow through on tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Interest in a broad range of fiction and nonfiction.
Ideal Experience:
- Entry level role. Previous book publishing or bookselling experience/internships a plus but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Thir role will have an annual salary of $47,500.
