The New York Post is seeking a PostScript/Books Editorto join our editorial team. As the PostScript/Books Editor, you will oversee editing of the Sunday opinion and ideas section and be at the forefront of shaping our publication's books-related content.
Responsibilities:
- Assume editorial responsibility for the Sunday opinion and ideas section, ensuring that all content is coherent, well-crafted, and aligned with the publication's editorial standards
- Collaborate with writers, columnists, and contributors to refine and enhance their pieces, providing editorial guidance and feedback
- Work closely with the design team to conceptualize and execute engaging layouts for opinion pieces, optimizing their visual appeal for readers
- Coordinate the seamless web posting of columns and articles, making content accessible to online audiences
- Stay abreast of developments in the publishing industry, tracking book publishers, and identifying noteworthy releases across genres
- Cultivate relationships with publishers and literary agents to secure advance copies of hot releases, facilitating early access for reviewers and relevant sections
- Lead and oversee the production of the weekly Required Reading column, curating and showcasing the best new book releases for our readers
- Foster effective collaboration and communication within the editorial and design teams, promoting a seamless integration of content and design elements
- Serve as a liaison between the editorial and design departments, facilitating cohesive and impactful content delivery
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or a related field preferred
- Proven experience in editorial roles, particularly focused on books coverage and editing
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills
- Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines
- An ardent passion for literature and a keen understanding of the publishing landscape

Pay Range: $31,200 - $125,000
