The Prime Video Science team uses machine learning, econometrics, and data science to optimize Amazon's streaming-video catalogue, driving customer engagement and Prime member acquisition. We generate insights to guide Amazon's digital-video strategy. We use detailed customer behavioral data (e.g. streaming history) and detailed information about content (e.g. IMDb-sourced characteristics) to understand customer content taste, predict their engagement patterns and optimize their customer journeys.
We are seeking an outstanding economist to measure how Prime Video delights our customers and to help define the strategy that will make Prime Video a must-have service for users around the world. As an Economist on the team, you will work closely with our business and finance stakeholders, as well as the other members of our team, to shape and deliver a roadmap of economic models and experimentation for the team. Your frameworks will be leveraged to inform critical decisions for the business.
Key job responsibilities
- Build economic models to measure the causal impact of customer engagement in Prime Video.
- Create models that allow an optimization of customer journeys across Prime video.
- Design experiments to test our hypotheses and validate the outputs of our models.
- Collaborate with other Scientists and Economists on our team to enhance our existing suite of models.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in economics or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of industry, consulting, government, or academic research experience
- Knowledge of at least one statistical software package such as R, Stata, Matlab, SAS
- Experience with handling of large datasets
- Experience in causal inference and experimentation.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
