Ecological Restoration Technician
Field & Stream Restorations is seeking an Ecological Restoration Technician to conduct project work related to Ecological Restoration, erosion control installation, forestry services, and vegetation management. Project specific job tasks may include interpreting and constructing project designs and planning documents, plant installation, invasive species removal by various methods, herbicide application, large and small equipment operation, field labor, etc. Work weeks typically last 35 to 50 hours and 4 to 6 days depending on weather and workload. Overnight travel may be required based on project needs. Pay will be determined based on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. This position will be full time - permanent. Basic qualifications:
Minimum associate’s degree in Life Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Biology, Fisheries, Forestry, or equivalent experience.
Applicant will be required to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License within 30 days of employment in categories 5.0 and 6.0.
Valid Driver's License.
1+ years' experience working in the Ecological Restoration, erosion control, and landscaping fields.
Ability to operate and maintain equipment including chainsaws, brush-cutters, backpack herbicide sprayers, ATV, UTV, skid steer, and tractor with various implements.
Experience hauling and loading truck/trailer combinations (10,000 - 26,000 lbs+ GVWR).
Experience with herbicide mixing and application through various methods and equipment.
Experience in Midwest native and invasive species plant identification and/or restoration techniques.
Experience conducting restoration tasks such as herbicide application, mowing, prescribed burning, planting, etc.
Applicant must be able to lift 50 lbs and be able to perform physical work in a wide range of outdoor weather conditions and environments including walking 4 to 6 miles through rough terrain daily.
Applicant must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Desired Qualifications:
NWCG Burn Training – S-130, S-190, L-180, S-219, S-290 or more.
Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
Chainsaw safety training.
Experience in technical report writing.
