Brightpoint (formerly known as Children's Home & Aid) provides students with the opportunity to apply their theoretical learning within a practical setting. We aim to offer deeply meaningful and individualized learning experiences for those entering Early Childhood Education and social service fields. Interns are required to be pursuing college credit towards a degree.

Gain experience in Early Childhood Education administration. As an ECE Administration Intern, you will gain knowledge of the Early Childhood Service Directory and the EMPath Project. The ECE Administration Internship is appropriate for students pursuing an internship for college credit towards an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Communications, or a related field.
This on-site internship requires students to complete hours from various locations within the Madison and St. Clair County communities. Interns may have the opportunity to complete some hours remotely but must be available to drive to on-site learning opportunities.
Learning opportunities include:
- Gain knowledge of Early Childhood and family service resources and linkage opportunities by maintaining the Community Resource Service Directory.
- Meet with community partners and service providers to learn about their eligibility criteria and their referral and linkage process.
- Observe and facilitate learning opportunities to support EMPath Mobility Mentoring, a pilot program that supports program participants with the resources, skills, and sustained behavior changes necessary to attain and preserve their economic independence and family self-sufficiency.
- Assist with outreach and gain experience in assessing staff and family needs.
- Assist with data entry to gain experience of provider documentation, records organization, and various data management systems.
- Spotlight program services for inclusion in a program newsletter and on social media.
- Learn about the history and services of Brightpoint (formerly Children's Home & Aid) in an orientation to the agency, including introduction to policies & procedures and safety practices.
- Participate in regular supervision with assigned clinical supervisor.
- Complete the following required and recommended trainings: Mandated Reporter, HIPAA, Sexual Harassment Awareness and Prevention, LGBTQIA+, Safety, Trauma 101, ARC 101
Internship Supervisor Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education
Student Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Communications, or a related field.
- Currently pursuing credit through an academic or other formalized educational program.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Basic organizational and time management skills.
Additional Details:
- Interns must pass a fingerprinting background check including CANTS and LEADS.
- Brightpoint does not provide compensation to interns.
