Behavior technicians work in our highly specialized programs in which we serve individuals with exceptional level interfering behavioral and mental health needs. The individuals who reside in these programs may have been previously placed in a highly restricted facility, high incidents of crisis situations, high behaviors, multiple hospitalizations/commitments/ institutional stays, history of law enforcement involvement due to behaviors, and multiple failed placements. These homes have been significantly modified to accommodate daily behaviors and required consistent interventions to ensure safety of residents.
Behavior technicians are provided additional and extensive trainings for redirection and de-escalation as well as crisis management and protocols. Staff may be exposed to severe verbal and physical aggression that may include daily contact with the individuals including bodily fluids. Behavior technicians are required to wear scrub uniform to protect themselves and ensure a safe clean environment.
The behavior technician role includes intense interfering behavioral health management, assisting in maintaining a clean, safe living environment, assisting and training on daily living skills, transportation and supervision while promoting a person-centered approach.
