Job Title:Shipping & Receiving Driver
Position Description
The Shipping & Receiving Driver is responsible for transporting materials, components, and finished products within a manufacturing facility, & to customer/ vendor site. They ensure the timely delivery of goods to designated areas while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining the integrity of the products. The Shipping & Receiving Driver operates various types of vehicles, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or delivery trucks w/ trailers, depending on the requirements of the manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport raw materials, components, and finished products.
- Load and unload materials from delivery vehicles using appropriate equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Inspect materials and products for damage or defects before transport and report any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow established safety guidelines and procedures while operating vehicles and handling materials to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery vehicles and storage areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Monitor inventory levels and report any shortages or discrepancies to the inventory control team.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to prioritize deliveries and ensure timely transportation of materials as per production schedules.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on delivery vehicles, such as refueling, checking fluid levels, and reporting any mechanical issues.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those related to quality assurance, security, and confidentiality.
- Participate in training programs and meetings to stay updated on job-related knowledge and skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Familiarity with operating a vehicle towing up to a 24’ trailer.
- Proven experience as a driver in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
- Familiarity with operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift and move heavy objects.
- Flexibility to work shifts and overtime as needed.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday.
- 8-hour shifts.
- OT available as needed by the organization.
- In-person, Madison Heights MI
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $15-$20 per hour
- **Supplemental Pay: **Performance-based bonus opportunities.
