The Drilling Fluids SME provides technical support in drilling and completion fluids, solids control and waste management worldwide.
Chevron's drilling programs involve high-spec synthetic muds in the most challenging conditions in the industry. Drilling waste management issues are complicated by remote location, sensitive environmental conditions, and rapidly evolving regulations.
The candidate should have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot a wide range of fluids-related issues with limited time/information.
Expected to maintain industry-wide relationships through API, SPE, AADE, etc. to work to represent Chevron's interests in the industry. Deliver long-term research projects in our strategic research and technology development portfolio designed to grow Chevron's technical advantage.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Provide help/consultation to our various Business Units located both domestically and internationally regarding Drilling Fluid, Solids Control, and Waste Management issues to solve business problems. (~85%)
Teach Drilling Fluids courses in our training center to early career engineers (~5%)
Engage in industry groups such as API & AADE to represent Chevron’s interests (~3%)
Conduct long-term research projects to grow Chevon’s technical advantage (~5%)
Provide guidance/recommendations to our Chevron Fluid Lab for sample testing (~2%)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree
Experience working for a Drilling Fluids provider, including field, lab, and office/customer support roles
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in math, science, or engineering
A minimum of 10 years working for Drilling Fluids providers
Strong understanding of industry products, base fluids, and additives
Solids Control design/implementation/troubleshooting
Waste Management including transportation, disposal and remediation of cuttings and fluids
Relocation Options:
Relocation may be considered.
International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
Special Considerations:
Travel both Domestically and Internationally is occasionally required (~10%)
