AES Drilling Fluids Summer Internship Program is a 12-week, part time (25-30 hours per week) paid program designed to enhance the education process by providing hands on experience with an opportunity to work within the field of interest and degree. This summer program helps to prepare interns for their future by immersing them in AES's amazing culture and dynamic business.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Intern - Lab works in the Midland drilling fluids petrochemical lab and reports to the Lab Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Lab Manager and/or engineers to set up, conduct, and report data for routine and non-routine tests.
- Perform assigned tests and work under direct supervision of senior associates.
- Assist with lab set up, organization, clean up and maintenance.
- Delivers samples offsite for both testing and/or for shipment.
- Collects, creates, and organizes reports on tests performed, as required and effectively communicates laboratory results as requested.
- Ensures a clean, orderly, and safe working condition of the laboratory compliant with AES and industry standards.
- Ensures disposal of laboratory waste according to AES procedure.
- Support and participate in the AES Lab's organization's continual improvement program.
- Handles special projects and all other duties, as assigned by the Lab Manager.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in college with a focus on Chemistry or Petroleum Sciences.
- Junior or Senior level with 75+ credit hours.
- 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Classes that include some bench time or wet chemistry is preferred.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (including advanced Microsoft Excel skills) and Outlook, and internet research skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment with an ability to meet deadlines and multi-task.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- Pleasant personality and excellent customer service skills for effectively dealing with employees, customers, and other third parties.
- Valid Driver's License and good driving record is required as position may require occasional local travel to retrieve equipment in company vehicle.
- Ability to strictly preserve the confidentiality of sensitive and/or proprietary AES and employee information.
