POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineer works with the Sales Department and the Manufacturing facilities to ensure drawings and specifications meet customer requirements. Orders that flow through the Engineering Department are closely reviewed by the Engineer to ensure proper construction to satisfy unique site conditions of each project. The Engineer may need to provide drawn (drafted) details to Sales and/or Manufacturing to convey an understanding of the finished product. Custom orders or conditions that need to be met on an order, are designed by the Engineer using best practices. Should an order require a design that is without precedent, individual creativity, and using our best common concepts shall be utilized. All orders that an Engineer works on will also adjust/amend the order in our MRP program for Production’s use. Communication with Sales, Production, and Installation are required to ensure project success.
MAJOR DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze orders for proper material quantity and use, revise where necessary.
- Edit sales order lines ahead of the Production work ticket process.
- Draw construction details where necessary for proper Manufacturing of product.
- Assist Sales with “Order Illustrations” to aid in project approval.
- Support Sales with answers to specific design questions based on site situations and product desired.
- Provide unique solutions to unprecedented design issues utilizing best practices.
- Ensure that individual Job Schedules (install dates) are met inside Engineering to follow customer and Company expectations.
- Requisition vendor items for unique parts, or non-stocked items required if necessary.
- Communicate with Clients (with Salesperson present) to answer specific and unique questions, when necessary.
- Assist in the design of new products requiring technical drawings, and guidance for material use.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 consecutive years consistent AutoCAD® experience, version 2017 to current.
- Architectural / Mechanical Engineering College level education preferred, or 4 years’ experience in a similar field.
- Ability to read and understand Construction Documents, Architects Plans, Project Specifications.
- Ability to quickly sketch / illustrate ideas by hand.
- Must have creative/inventive ability to provide unique design solutions without any precedent.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), use of online Office 365.
- Knowledge of Salesforce.com / Sage100 applications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- On occasion, travel may be required for certain projects, or off-site organization meetings.
