Domestic Abuse Response Team Advocate

The mission of Laurel House is to advocate for and empower those impacted by domestic violence by providing crisis intervention, safe haven, appropriate programs and resources and to advance social change through preventive education and through community training and collaboration to foster a coordinated response to domestic violence.
Laurel House is dedicated to the vision of ending domestic violence in each life, home, and community throughout Montgomery County. Our first program, established in 1980, was a domestic violence shelter for abused women and their children. In addition to emergency shelter, Laurel House offers a 24-hour hotline, transitional housing, individual and group counseling, legal representation as well as community education and prevention efforts.
The Domestic Abuse Response Team Advocate provides immediate crisis and safety response, as well as case management, to victims of domestic violence when contacted by law enforcement and/or medical professionals to assist in coordinating community response efforts. Last year, the DART team responded to 634 calls from law enforcement and medical professionals.
You will accompany victims to obtain Protection from Abuse Orders, preliminary hearings, and other court proceedings and assist victims with completion of Victim Impact Statements and Victim Compensation forms.
Follow up with victims referred by police departments, medical personnel and other agencies and profide victims with referrals, information, services and/or support.
You should be able to work with diverse populations and be sensitive to the needs of victims of domestic violence.
This position works Monday - Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
