Job description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented QA Specialist to join our food manufacturing plant. As a QA Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our food products. You will be responsible for conducting inspections, tests, and audits to identify any potential issues and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to address any food safety or quality concerns and implement improvements to our processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong documentation skills, attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for maintaining the highest standards in food safety.

Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience, with consideration for both hourly and salaried pay.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and update documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality manuals.
  • Ensure all documents are accurately organized and stored, in both electronic and physical formats.
  • Review existing documents for accuracy and completeness, making necessary revisions as required.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of document control processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of documentation.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure documents are updated and reflect current practices.
  • Create reports and presentations summarizing document control metrics and trends.
  • Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, packaging, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform laboratory testing, including moisture analysis, pH testing, and microbiological analysis.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update quality control documentation, including test records and inspection reports.
  • Conduct audits of production procedures to identify any potential areas of improvement.
  • Monitor and document process parameters to ensure consistency and efficiency in production.
  • Participate in the investigation of customer complaints and assist in developing action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide support during regulatory inspections and customer audits.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in document control or QA in a manufacturing setting, preferably in the food industry.
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing plant or similar environment
  • Proficient in using document control software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, such as FDA and HACCP.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Public Health, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing techniques and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normally standing/walking with freedom of movement on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (10 hours or more).
  • Frequently lifting 50 lbs.
  • Frequent physical activity requires walking, climbing, bending, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting and stooping.

Work Conditions:

  • The work schedule is Monday through Friday and start times may begin as early as 5:00 AM and finish times as late as 6:00 PM (or until finish). At times, it may be required that work be outside of the normal work schedule, including weekends.
  • Extended work hours may be required (evenings/weekends) until work is complete.
  • Physical surroundings are in an indoor warehouse/manufacturing environment (cold, ambient, and warm processing rooms as well as office and laboratory).
