ITD currently has an opening for a Program Specialist in the Division of Motor Vehicles. This position will be an integral part of the DMV Policy and Stakeholder Engagement team based out of the ITD Headquarters office in Boise, Idaho. This position will specialize in supporting DMV and our partners. We are seeking applicants who have a strong background in the analysis of statutes and rules, critical thinking skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, a creative approach to problem-solving, and a passion for continuous learning and innovation. If you've got a passion for navigating the twists and turns of vehicle regulations and love diving into the nitty-gritty details, this might just be the perfect fit for you!Statewide travel may be required in this position to support Port of Entry functions and County offices.
Notice: This position will require a criminal background check. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:+ Conduct research and analysis on relevant policies, regulations, and legislative developments.
+ Present information to legislators and other stakeholder groups, regarding legislation related to the department. This may be done in person, by phone, on Teams, or through email.
+ Develop policy ideas and recommendations to address organizational needs and objectives.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the impact of proposed policies and regulatory changes to ensure our policies are road-ready.
+ Keeping your foot on the gas pedal when it comes to staying up-to-date on industry trends and policy changes.
+ Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate policy insights and recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Some knowledge of management practices: Minimum requirements gained by completion of one three credit or equivalent upper division college-level course or approximately 60 hours or equivalent of management training that included all the essential elements of management (Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling); OR completion of the State or equivalent; OR six months of experience performing all management elements.
+ Some knowledge of program or project planning and implementation: Minimum requirements gained through work experience involved in program or project planning and implementation as a team member or individual contributor.
+ Experience developing and evaluating policies and procedures: Minimum requirements gained through six months experience writing or assisting in the review/auditing and developing of policies, procedures, field memorandums, directives or post orders.
