The Children's Developmental disabilities program is looking for forward thinker who is passionate about improving services and systems designed to maintain children with Developmental Disabilities living in their own home. Our Program Specialists play a critical role in the development of policies and procedures that direct Case Management, Home and community-based service delivery and the Quality Assurance of services delivered across the state. They provide training and technical assistance to staff, contractors and providers to best meet the needs of children with Developmental Disabilities across the state. Applicants should have a strong background with knowledge of services and service delivery systems directing home and community-based care for children with Developmental Disabilities. This position has a flexible/hybrid option.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Maintain and update written procedures for statewide Children's Developmental Disabilities (DD) Program. 
  • Responsible for development and monitoring of program policy and procedures, and oversight related to assessment and authorization of Children's DD services. 
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all billing questions (to correct issues); maintain accurate operational procedures; and develop changes to systems and operations to improve proficiency. 
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts; conduct reviews and summarize results. 
  • Collaborate and problem solve within the Department of Health and Welfare and with external partners.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Considerable knowledge of: social, psychological, or rehabilitative services, principles, and methods. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher in a behavioral/social science, social work, psychology, psychosocial rehabilitation, or closely related field.
  • Experience working with public social/rehabilitative service delivery systems. Typically requires at least one year of professional experience working with more than one element of integrated services. These systems include integration of services with United Way, private/public sector agencies, courts, law enforcement, corrections, vocational rehabilitation, schools, universities, and other consultation and assistance services/programs.
  • Experience planning, implementing, and overseeing a community-based social/rehabilitative service program to include community organization. Typically requires leadership experience participating in a community effort to plan, implement, and oversee a social/rehabilitative service program.

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.

  • Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) 
  • Experience with quality outcome monitoring and continuous improvement strategies. Typically gained by at least one year of related experience. 
  • Considerable knowledge of Developmental Disabilities service provision. Typically gained by a bachelor's degree in a Human Services field AND at least one year experience working with children with Developmental Disabilities
  • Experience developing, writing, and delivering training on technical materials such as policies, manuals, and/or rules/regulations. Typically gained by at least one year of experience performing these functions or completing related policy or technical writing coursework.
