QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree and equivalent experience and training in working with school student behavioral management, working knowledge of positive behavioral supports, and implementing behavior interventions
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience varied K-12
- Demonstrated understanding of federal and state education laws
- Demonstrated understanding of inclusive education and differentiated instruction.
- Demonstrated understanding of behavior management techniques and methods.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
- Ability to develop and implement projects
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
- Required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions
- Work in standard office and school building environments
- Provides positive ways for working successfully with students demonstrating difficulties with acceptable behavior patterns
- Works with staff to assesses students behavior within the classroom for the purpose of designing/implementing behavioral interventions to improve student behavior
- Completes functional behavioral assessments and develops behavioral intervention plans using evidenced-based practices
- Assists with the design, implementation and follow up of the Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavioral Intervention Program (BIP) management programs using evidence-based practices
- Provides professional learning opportunities focusing on students with difficult behaviors and related topics
- Contributes to the MTSS processes and procedures to help students be successful
- Consults with IEP and SST teams as requested
- Assists schools with PBIS implementation
- Establishing and maintaining ongoing relationships with outside agencies serving district students and their families
- Develops and conducts professional learning for staff regarding techniques for remediation of behavioral, social or personal problems of students
- Assists teachers with the development of safety plans; engages with families to plan for student success as needed
- Provides staff development and works collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals and support staff to demonstrate best practices, strategies and techniques to enhance instruction for students with social, communication, behavioral and learning challenges
- Responds to emergency situations (injured student, altercations, etc.) for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to handle emotionally charged situations and a basic understanding of educational curriculum and instructional methods
- Performs other related work as required
