Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia's 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Our college is seeking a qualified individual to teach in-person, online/hybrid didactic, laboratory instruction, and clinical courses in the Radiologic Technology program. Full-time teaching responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester, engaging students in the learning process, clinicals, supervision of students, course and curriculum development, student advising, and accurate maintenance of student files. Full-time faculty members fully participate in Radiologic Technology program development and evaluation, college activities and committees, and represent Brightpoint at community events and professional opportunities. The faculty will work directly with the Radiography Program Director, Clinical Coordinator, and Division Dean and will be responsible for the following: Teaching in-person, online/hybrid didactic, clinical courses, managing student clinical competencies and performance evaluations. Correlating and coordinating clinical education with didactic education and evaluating its effectiveness. Supporting the Radiography program director in all aspects of administration of the program. Maintaining current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Maintaining current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress. Participating in the accreditation and assessment processes. In addition to teaching/clinical supervision, all faculty members advise students, serve on division and college-wide committees, and participate in other activities that support the mission of the college. This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a field related to imaging sciences, education, or health. Documents two years of clinical experience in the professional discipline. Documents one-year experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited program. Holds current, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, in radiography. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong commitment to the community college mission and philosophy, students, and teaching in a community college. Commitment to academic advisement and mentoring of students. Ability to teach during day, evening and weekend hours and travel to locations mainly within Central Virginia. Ability to use current and emerging instructional technologies and distance learning technologies. Proficient in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, and academic advising. Familiarity with regional accreditation standards, certification, and licensure requirements. Demonstrates understanding of, and commitment to, the comprehensive mission of community colleges. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with regional accreditation standards, certification, and licensure requirements. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience within an accredited radiography program. Administrative, program management, and/or curriculum development experience. Familiarity with the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning. Experience with active learning, team-based learning, and/or other student-centered teaching styles. Experience developing online courses in a college setting. Master's degree or higher in a field related to imaging sciences or education. Additional credential in CT, MRI, and/or Mammography. Experience teaching in higher education, especially within a community college. Experience advising and mentoring students. Familiarity with the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning. Experience with active learning, team-based learning, and/or other student-centered teaching style.
