Alaska Petroleum Distributing (APD) has served the North Pole and surrounding areas since 1981. With strong local brand recognition and family-owned company culture, APD has a balanced commercial and retail customer portfolio, delivering heating oil, gasoline, and diesel fuels. It is the largest fuel distributor in the interior. Recognizing its complementary services, including linehaul and truck maintenance capabilities, APD joined the NorthStar family of companies in 2019.
APD prioritizes environmental safety, crafting and constructing the first state-approved, double-walled fuel storage tanks. Alaska Petroleum has over 100 tanks of various sizes, which is an offered service to contractors throughout the state. In addition, APD handles oil spill contingency products, including pads and barrels.
Job Summary:
Schedules daily fuel deliveries to meet customer needs.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Greets customer in a professional and courtesy manner who call to the office and place an order via telephone.
- Takes customer orders for products, coordinate deliveries, and plan loads improving the truck efficiency in terms of space and handling accurate geographic routing.
- Utilizes Smartlogix dispatch software to dispatch orders to trucks, supervise stock levels in trucks, and supervise a trucks position at any given time.
- Advises drivers on making on the fly route changes using dispatch software to improve driver and equipment efficiency.
- Potential fueling and driving duties, non-DOT
- Conducts basic reconciliation of fuel inventory that occurred on each truck daily ensuring that information is migrating from Smartlogix to MAS accurately, if not troubleshooting and making needed changes along the way.
- Maintains and handles all confidential pricing information to include setting margins at the direction of the Operations Manager and sales staff, sending out customer price notifications as pricing changes, and analyzing supplier price changes to make effective buying decision when the Operations Manager is absent.
- Intermittently conducts safety and operational meetings.
- Maintains positive working relationship with drivers. Decides appropriate workloads for drivers daily commensurate with their abilities and experience levels. Provides direction to drivers and has authority to guide and direct employees’ daily activities as it relates to delivering fuel.
- Follow DOT Regulations.
- Participates in safety meetings and reports all injuries, spills and property damage. Identifies and communicates job hazards. Advises management of safety, environmental, and mechanical concerns in a timely manner.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED; and two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
- Valid Driver’s License
- CDL B License preferred, but not required
