Job Summary
As the Director of Sales Engineering, you will play a key leadership role in driving the success of our sales efforts by leading and managing the Sales Engineering team. This position requires a deep technical understanding of our products and services, combined with excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with both the sales and technical teams. You will be responsible for aligning the sales engineering strategy with overall business objectives, ensuring the successful integration of technical solutions, and providing guidance to the sales engineering team to drive revenue growth.
Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Sales Engineering Team
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on achieving sales goals
- Strategic Planning
- Develop and execute the sales engineering strategy aligned with the overall sales and business objectives
- Collaborate with senior management to establish sales targets and implement strategies to achieve them
- Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the sales, product, and engineering teams to ensure a seamless integration of technical solutions into the sales process
- Act as a bridge between the technical and sales teams, facilitating effective communication and collaboration
- Technical Expertise
- Maintain a deep understanding of the company's products, services, and technology stack
- Provide technical leadership during customer interactions, including presentations, demonstrations, and discussions
- Sales Support
- Support the sales team in customer engagements by addressing technical hurdles and opportunities
- Collaborate and train with sales representatives to understand customer requirements and tailor technical solutions accordingly
- Customer Advocacy
- Develop strong relationships with key customers and act as a technical advisor to understand and address their needs
- Gather customer feedback and insights to contribute to product and service improvements
- Performance Tracking and Reporting
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Sales Engineering team and regularly assess and report on their performance
- Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science) or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in a leadership role within sales engineering or a related field
- Strong understanding of technical solutions, preferably in the context of the company's industry Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong people and relationship management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams Ability to work independently and with others
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth through effective sales engineering strategies Ability to comply with all company implemented safety procedures
- IP experience
- High degree of knowledge of network design principles including VLAN implementation, subnetting, spanning tree, VLAN trunking, and inter-VLAN routing familiarity with IP routing protocols including RIPv2, ISIS and BGP
- Preferred Experience
- 5+ years network engineering/project telecommunications experience preferred
- Past team leadership experience preferred
