Job description

LOCATION: Columbia, Missouri

ABOUT THE JOB

MU Health Care is seeking an incredible nurse to serve as the Director of its Acute Care Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital, a role of considerable influence and responsibility within an academic critical care setting. The chosen leader will manage a substantial facility with 61 inpatient beds and a 25-bed psychiatric emergency and observation unit, dedicated to delivering incredible adult and pediatric psychiatric care. The Director's responsibilities are expansive, encompassing the creation and enhancement of programs that directly impact and improve community health outcomes. A pivotal aspect of the role is the establishment and nurturing of community ties, particularly with law enforcement, which is fundamental to the center's patient-focused ethos.

A critical requirement for this pivotal role is current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Missouri, which is foundational to understanding and guiding the complex clinical environment of the hospital. The Director must demonstrate a thorough proficiency in legal compliance and regulatory frameworks, be adept at consulting with the legal team and law enforcement, and oversee the daily management of risk and regulatory concerns. A unique feature includes the use of a tele-courtroom, which convenes twice a week, highlighting the hospital's integrated role within the broader judicial and healthcare system. The position demands a collaborative spirit, as the Director will work closely with an exceptional physician leader team in a culture that values dynamic communication, innovation, and mutual respect. At MU Health Care, the Director will find a dynamic, exciting, and gratifying work environment, contributing to one of only two safety net hospitals in Missouri, known for its commitment to equitable, comprehensive care for all patient demographics and diagnoses.
