Job description

Job Summary
The Director of Product Management leads the Product Management teams responsible for the product development efforts supporting the Investment Management Group, Leasing & Property Management and Rehab Turns & Maintenance functional areas. With a proven track record of leading teams, this role is primarily responsible for the staffing, coaching and development of the Product Managers who work with the functional leaders of these areas; as well as making sure current and future solutions are both valuable and viable.
The Director of Product Management will track industry trends and the competitive landscape that pertain to current and future state products and solutions. They will contribute a deep understanding of the organization’s business model, how technology impacts the day-to-day operations, and work cross-functionally with teams to identify opportunities to evolve, transform, and optimize both.
The Director of Product Management has the unique responsibility to span all functional areas of IMG, LPM and RTM to understand how each functional area impacts the other. With this knowledge they will work cross functionally with the Product Management Teams and the functional area leaders to develop product artifacts that communicate strategies that can be used in prioritization meetings and conversations that illustrate how to achieve maximum value with minimal disruption.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mentor and manage a team of product managers and/or contract resources in all assigned delivery efforts, demonstrate servant-based leadership and knowledge of leading by context rather than control
  • Establish and constantly foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure clear and direct communication around current and future product efforts, assist when needed to build consensus among stakeholders to optimize experiences for our customers and create efficiencies for our associates
  • Coordinate with technology teams on scope, requirements and change management in an agile environment
  • Work with the VP, Product and the Product Management teams to deliver product roadmaps that align to the approved product strategy, assist with Quarterly Planning and assigning objectives to Product Management teams
  • Build strong working knowledge of the systems and operational processes in the IH landscape that may be impacted with each new product development effort
  • Keep a pulse on the competitive and vendor landscape and identify opportunities and strategies to drive business results
  • Participate in solutioning; with the ability to dive into the details when needed
  • Act as product and technology evangelist and build excitement amongst key stakeholders
  • Guide, coach and inspire a group of Product Managers along their career journeys

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of experience in a Product Management role
  • 4+ years leading a team of product managers
  • Prior experience delivering industry-leading product and innovations
  • Prior experience in real estate, construction, or financial technology

Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner preferred

Skills/Specialized Knowledge
  • Strong business and technical acumen

  • Experience being the product owner of one or more software products, with a track record of successful releases and updates
  • Ability to communicate complex information in simple terms to a wide variety of audiences
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively

  • Ability to effectively communicate and partner with executives and senior-level leaders
  • Ability to lead projects across multiple teams and stakeholders through organization, collaboration, and charisma

  • Excellent teamwork skills; strong ability to motivate engineering teams and foster creativity

Physical and Mental Demands
This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate and communicate. $118,800.00 - $205,920.00
