As part of eHealth’s transformation, we are seeking a Director of Paid and Organic Search. This person will be responsible for developing comprehensive, holistic search strategies and leading a team of practitioners as they execute campaigns that drive enrollments for Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplemental, Individual, Family and Small Business audiences. Our ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who possess a deep knowledge of SEM and SEO best practices in the direct-to-consumer space and has experience working in close collaboration with media agencies, audience strategy, analytics, product, sales and MarTech teams. Reporting to the VP of Medicare Advantage & Marketing Channels, this person will have a pulse of industry trends and deep experience building strategies that maximize web traffic, increase consumer acquisition and engagement, drive down customer acquisition cost, and help build a distinct eHealth brand with our consumers. This leader will be the go-to expert for search at eHealth and should bring strong intellectual curiosity to challenge status quo and a track record of delivering superior results.
The Director of Paid and Organic search can be based anywhere in the US.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, own and gain alignment against the Paid and Organic Search strategies for all eHealth products and audiences to achieve performance goals and KPIs while maximizing ROI.
- Building and maintain annual and quarterly strategic roadmap.
- Demonstrate thought leadership by sharing the latest industry trends and translating them to actionable strategies.
- Manage agency and vendor relationships, including developing partnerships directly with Google and Microsoft.
- Lead transition from agency-led management of channels to in-house management.
- Supervise SEM team members and provide day-to-day support for performance monitoring, bid strategies and management, budget allocations, keyword optimizations, ad copy testing, etc...
- Supervise SEO team members and provide direction on keyword and content strategies, as well as technical optimizations and issue resolution.
- Manage and coach team members by providing timely, constructive feedback and clear direction around project requirements and expectations.
- Comfort setting strategy and overarching direction, as well as hand on keyboard getting work done.
- Leverage data to monitor and analyze channel performance, inform testing, and prioritize projects.
- Deliver regular reports highlighting channel performance and insight to cross-functional partners and leadership.
- Own, develop, manage forecast & budget with continuous optimization to deliver performance.
- Partner with marketing audience strategy and product teams to create aligned landing page experiences.
- Partner with marketing audience strategy and sales team to ensure frictionless telephonic experiences.
- Work closely with data science, analytics, MarTech and engineering on internal reporting, automation, and optimization projects.
- Ensure ad copy and channel executions are compliant.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of leading and developing complex, large-scale SEM campaigns and SEO strategies with a demonstrable track record of success. Medicare experience is a plus.
- 10+ years hands-on experience with Google and Microsoft Ads that includes expertise in bid strategies, budget management, portfolio organization, keyword analysis, audience targeting, etc…
- 10+ years managing, coaching, and mentoring people.
- 5+ years of experience building content and technical SEO strategies.
- Experience managing agency relationships and transitioning from agency-led management to internal channel management.
- Effective at articulating strategy, clear direction, and prioritization across teams with strong ability to deep dive into details to flawlessly execute.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross functional partners at all levels and ability to clearly communicating technical messages to non-technical audiences.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing 8-figure media budgets.
- Strong analytical acumen with experience in tools such as Tableau, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Conductor, etc…
- Strong organization and project management, with ability to set clear priorities.
- Experience and comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment, operating at a fast pace and fluid nature to adapt the changing needs of the consumer, the regulatory environment, and the business.
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable giving presentations and reporting data analysis to different audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree.

The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes an annual performance bonus, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness. Base Pay Range -$143,100 - $190,800
