The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) is looking for a Director of Technology to join its team.
Job Summary
The Director of Technology will assume a pivotal role in furnishing strategic and operational leadership within the realm of Technology. This position entails the formulation, execution, and orchestration of Technology strategies, roadmaps, solutions, and operations, all geared towards elevating the IAPP's overall success, with a keen focus on alignment with its goals and objectives. This role reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Job Responsibilities
Strategic
- Lead strategic and operational planning for technology, fostering innovation and prioritizing technology initiatives.
- Coordinate the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technology solutions.
- Establish departmental goals, objectives, and procedures to support the organization's long-term growth objectives.
- Collaborate with the Technology Leadership team to set policies and quality assurance standards.
- Identify opportunities for cost-effective technology investments and develop the annual operating and capital budget.
- Consult with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for technology service design and transition.
- Prioritize and control projects related to technology initiatives.
Operational
- Ensure high availability of Technology services through departmental oversight.
- Evaluate overall operations of computing and technology functions and recommend enhancements toimprove productivity, functionality, and efficiencies.
- Review and approve major contracts for technology services, equipment, and software licensing.
- Ensure information and technology practices are compliant with applicable industry standards and regulations.
Leadership
- Participate in strategic and operational governance processes as a member of the organization's leadership team.
- Promote the work and value created by the Technology Department through effective communications.
- Establish and maintain an appropriate technology organizational structure.
- Recruit, develop, retain, and organize technology staff.
- Define and communicate strategic plans, policies, and technology standards to all staff levels.
- Foster strategic relationships between internal technology resources and external partners.
- Develop and enhance the capabilities of direct reports.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing technology strategy and operations.
- Strong knowledge of Technology trends, solutions, and best practices.
- Experience in budgeting, financial management, and contract negotiation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technology concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and foster relationships with external partners.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to stay updated with technology and industry advancements.
Work Environment
We have a hybrid work environment and are asking applicants to be within a commutable distance to our Portsmouth, NH office.
