Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Director of Student Services must be a dynamic educational leader in a rural high school district with a strong belief and commitment that all students can succeed and progress to college or other career focused goals. The Director of Students Services is a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet and provides leadership to the district and school sites in the areas of social emotional wellness, attendance, student discipline and safety, and multi-tiered systems of support. The Director of Student Services is a passionate leader who possesses a deep belief that all students can achieve, given rigorous instruction, social emotional supports, safe campuses, and a collaborative school culture.

Comments and Other Information
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of administration, principles and methods of education and instructional services models Knowledge of current education programs, curriculum and instruction practices and strategies designed to assist students in accessing and engaging in academic studies Knowledge of education code requirements, board policies and administrative regulations regarding student expulsions, Section 504, special education, foster and homeless youth, health and wellness, attendance, and alternatives to suspension Knowledge and identification of teaching and learning theories Knowledge of social-emotional wellness theories and best practices, including but not limited to multi-tiered systems of support, restorative practices, and culturally responsive practices Knowledge of day-to-day operations and appropriate support services necessary to assure operation effectiveness of school programs Knowledge of public information principles and techniques, including an awareness of community needs, interests, and concerns Knowledge of and ability to apply effective supervision techniques Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures related to specially funded programs EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university A minimum of five years successful teaching or counseling experience Principal and central office leadership experience preferred Previous experience working effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse groups. Previous experience in leadership, coaching and teambuilding skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES and CLEARANCES: Valid California Teaching Credential authorizing instruction at the secondary level or Valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential.
