Job description

The Director of Sales, Strategic Accounts is responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities for the Strategic Accounts division of the sales team. Staffs and directs a sales team and provides leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. Establishes plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the marketing area and contributes to the development of training and educational programs for the staff.

Essential Functions:

Illustrative duties may include, but are not restricted to, one or more of the following:

  • Build a high performing team of account management representatives to maximize revenue and profitability at DRBs top 100 accounts.
  • Cultivate a results-oriented culture across the strategic account management team.
  • Create and deploy account strategies, value propositions, sales processes, and techniques that drive key DRB initiatives and quota achievement.
  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives.
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations.
  • Create a business cadence to drive results and provide visibility to all stakeholders including sales management, operations, and finance.
  • Participate as a valued member of the sales leadership team, and collaborate across all DRB functions (product, marketing, operations, finance, etc.) to create value.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of DRB Systems core products and utilize this knowledge to successfully lead sales operations.
  • Works with the R&D and Marketing teams to help develop new offerings for the target market.
  • Mentor and develop sales account managers using a supportive and collaborative approach: set objectives, establish priorities, review individual and team action plans, conduct regular “ride alongs”, and monitor and evaluate results.
  • Facilitates regular team meetings.
  • Provides regular reporting on monthly sales, sales forecasts and target account lists.
  • Develops a Quarterly and Annual Business Review template for all major accounts, with the account managers coordinating these meetings.
  • Establishes strategies to expand customer base in target market.
  • Tracks sales against budget and maintain profit margin.
  • Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads and end users regarding pertinent sales activities.
  • Monitors customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts.
  • Willingness to travel (minimum of 5 days per month) and work with small business entrepreneurs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Project Management- Establishes and maintains processes and systems for successful project execution.
  • Communication - Present ideas and conveys information clearly and effectively through both verbally and through formal / informal documents. Communicates at an appropriate level for the needs of the audience. Understands clearly and quickly when instructions or orders are received.
  • CustomerService - Manages difficult or emotional client situations; Responds promptly to client needs; Solicits client feedback to improve service; Meets commitments.
  • Ethics and Values - Adheres to an appropriate and effective set of core values and beliefs during both good and bad times. Acts in line with those values. Rewards the right values and disapproves of others. Practices what he/she preaches.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages at least six account managers.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years experience in sales management role required. Proven sales leader experience, meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft operating systems. Salesforce or similar CRM experience preferred.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid United States Driver’s license
  • Other Requirements: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate, present, and influence all levels of the organization. Ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services. Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements. Willingness to travel (minimum of 8 days per month) and work with small business entrepreneurs.

The total base compensation for this position is $150,000 to $180,000 per annum, (earning potential is greater based on sales incentive plan). Your actual base salary will be determined based upon a number of factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.
