The Position
The Director of Security is a crucial position responsible for safeguarding the organization's physical and digital assets. This role involves comprehensive management of various security systems, personnel, policies, and procedures. The Director must ensure seamless coordination among different security aspects, maintain compliance with regulations, and proactively manage risks.
You will:
1.Alarm System Management:
o Strategically plan and oversee the installation of alarm systems across all organizational facilities.
o Regularly review and upgrade alarm systems to incorporate advanced technology and address evolving security needs.
o Coordinate with IT and facilities teams to ensure seamless integration of alarm systems with other security and operational systems.
o Develop protocols for alarm response, including escalation procedures to ensure prompt action and minimal impact.
2.Fire System Management:
o Oversee the installation and maintenance of fire detection and suppression systems in compliance with the latest fire safety standards.
o Conduct periodic audits to ensure all fire safety equipment is operational and accessible.
o Develop emergency evacuation plans and conduct regular fire drills involving all employees.
o Liaise with local fire departments to ensure preparedness for potential fire incidents.
3.Camera System Management:
o Manage the deployment and operation of surveillance systems.
o Ensure optimal placement of cameras for maximum coverage and deterrence.
o Regularly review and analyze footage for security breaches or suspicious activities.
o Implement data protection measures to safeguard recorded footage.
4.Access Control Management:
o Design and maintain a comprehensive access control system.
o Establish protocols for granting and revoking access to sensitive areas.
o Monitor access logs for unusual patterns or unauthorized attempts.
o Ensure compliance with data privacy laws in managing personal access data.
5.Onsite Security:
o Lead a team of Security personnel, including guards and security officers.
o Develop standard operating procedures for patrolling, reporting incidents, and emergency response.
o Conduct regular security briefings and training for the onsite team.
o Implement measures to ensure the well-being and efficiency of Security staff.
6.Security-Related Communications:
o Establish a robust communication network for disseminating security alerts and updates.
o Develop clear, concise, and effective security guidelines and bulletins for staff.
o Facilitate open channels of communication for reporting security concerns or breaches.
o Coordinate with PR and legal teams for public communications related to security incidents.
7.Vendor Management:
o Evaluate and select vendors for security equipment and services.
o Negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective and high-quality services.
o Regularly assess vendor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
o Build strong relationships with vendors for quick response and support.
8.Event Security:
o Plan and implement security protocols for company events, including crowd management and emergency procedures.
o Coordinate with event organizers to assess security needs and develop tailored security plans.
o Deploy additional security personnel and equipment as needed for events.
o Conduct post-event reviews to identify areas for improvement.
9.Security Training:
o Develop a comprehensive training program covering various security aspects, including emergency response, threat recognition, and technology use.
o Conduct regular training sessions and workshops for employees.
o Stay abreast of the latest security training techniques and tools.
o Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as necessary.
10.Security Regulations and Compliance:
o Monitor and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal security regulations.
o Keep updated on changes in security laws and adapt policies accordingly.
o Conduct periodic compliance audits and implement corrective actions.
o Serve as the point of contact for regulatory bodies and inspections.
11.Incident Response:
o Develop and refine incident response protocols for various security threats.
o Lead the response team during security incidents to manage and mitigate risks.
o Analyze incident reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
o Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
12.Physical Security:
o Conduct regular assessments of physical security measures like barriers, lighting, and locks.
o Implement enhancements to fortify physical security, including perimeter defenses.
o Develop and maintain a security plan for natural disasters or other emergencies.
o Collaborate with facilities management to ensure physical security aligns with building management practices.
13.Security Policies and Procedures:
o Draft, update, and enforce comprehensive security policies and standard operating procedures.
o Ensure security policies are aligned with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
o Conduct regular policy reviews and updates in response to emerging threats and technological advances.
o Facilitate the integration of Security policies across different departments.
14.Risk Assessment:
o Lead risk assessment initiatives to identify potential security vulnerabilities.
o Implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks.
o Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and address specific security concerns.
o Report to senior management on risk assessment findings and recommendations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in security management, preferably in a similar industry.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergency situations.
Demonstrated knowledge of Security systems and technology.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and external agencies.
Certification in security management (CPP, PSP, etc.) is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
Must be able to work in various weather conditions and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment:
The role requires both office work and field supervision.
Must be willing to work outside of standard business hours as needed, including weekends and holidays.
