RWJBH, BMSCH is seeking a Director of Nursing for Pediatric Sameday, PACU, Infusion and PAT,
Coordinates and integrates services within his/her department and with other departments,
Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support those services,
In conjunction With Senior Nursing Management, develop staffing standards to provide appropriate levels of patient care,
Determines the qualification and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services,
Continually assess and improve their department's performance by participating in the institution's and unit's continuous performance improvementprogram,
Improving Performance:
Maintains knowledge of the institutional performance improvement plan and communicates the plan to staff,
Facilitates the participation in performance improvement including training in the basic approaches and providing adequate time to complete theprocess,
Ensures the inclusion of patient safety and quality into department activities/initiatives , policies, procedures, performance improvement,
Communicates and documents RWJUH safety and quality initiatives and information to front-line staff ,at least during staff meetings as a regularagenda item,
Provides open lines of communication for reporting medical errors and 'near misses' using RWJUH organizational tools and resources,
Adopts at least two patient safety/quality initiatives from the National Quality Forum Safety Practices, or other credible safety/quality agency, aspertinent to the scope of services and demonstrates improvement in performance over time,
Considers performance on safety and quality indicators in employee performance appraisals,
Integrating and Coordinating Services:
Participates in institutional interdisciplinary committees that focus on patient care issues,
Supports and maintains collaborative relationships with all disciplines which impact patient care on the unit,
Develops relationships that extend beyond hospital boundaries to facilitate program development,
Planning & Designing Services:
Maintains knowledge of the institutional strategic plan and future vision, and communicates that information to staff,
Reviews/revises scope of service and participates in joint planning and program development with all health care team members to meet changingpatient care needs Acts as a role model in customer relations and assesses and responds to information regarding patient and family satisfaction,
Anticipates unit-based activities for the upcoming year based on the strategic plan and develops an operational budget for the coming year'sexpenditures, both salary and non-salary cost, based on prior year usage, trends in patient days and acuity, and ongoing expenses for new programsand technologies,
Professional Growth:
Attends formal educational seminars/classes to enhance knowledge base on both administrative and clinical issues,
Acts as a mentor to new Head Nurses/Directors,
Presents seminars to colleagues and maintains membership in professional organizations,
Environment of Care Standard:
Demonstrates the awareness of safety, security, life safety, emergency preparedness and utility and equipment management policies
