SUMMARY
This position provides strategic leadership and administration for assigned areas and/or service lines. Responsibilities include systematically implementing and enhancing all areas of True North. The director is responsible for patient care, nursing practice, safety and quality in accordance with organizational policies, evidence-based practice, and standards of professional nursing practice in their assigned areas. The director promotes a professional practice environment and develops and maintains collegial and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the institution to positively impact all areas of True North.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A master’s degree in nursing, business administration, hospital administration or a related field is required. If the masters is non-nursing, the candidate must have a BSN. Candidates currently enrolled in a master’s program will be considered; the degree must be complete within 3 years of accepting the role.
Three or more years of experience in a management / leadership position.
Knowledge of scope of practice for all job descriptions of clinical staff in reporting departments.
Demonstrated understanding of health care finance, statistics and data management is required.
Must exercise high levels of public relations, organizational and speaking skills.
Demonstrated entrepreneurship and creativity in problem solving.
Personal computer literacy is required.
ORGANIZATION
The position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer/Vice President of Patient Care Services of Munson Medical Center.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Using the Nursing Process, Scope and Standards of Professional Practice, the Code of Ethics for Nurses and the state law, the role directs clinical practice, coordinates patient service delivery, educates and develops staff, manages the work environment and manages the budget to meet organizational goals. The leader in this role collaborates with multiple stakeholders and departments and functions under the direction of the Vice President Patient Care Services & Chief Nursing Officer and may have other reporting relationships.
Knowledgeable regarding applicable health care regulations and accrediting agency requirements.
Collaborates with stakeholders across disciplines and the organization to achieve outcomes.
Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Munson Healthcare by demonstrating the organizational values in all aspects of their work and behaviors.
Critical Care
The Director incorporates the oversight of Nursing in their assigned units / clinics / areas of responsibility. The director collaborates with the unit / department manager to continuously improve processes and care, maintain employee and patient safety and satisfaction and attain operating goals.
