Overview:   

The Director of Loan Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the loan processing and servicing functions. This role involves strategic planning, effective team management, and ensuring compliance with lending laws and regulations. The Director of Loan Operations leads process improvement initiatives, manages risk, and integrates technology to enhance operational efficiency while collaborating with various departments to align Loan Operations with organizational objectives.


Job Responsibilities: 


  • Oversees the daily workflow of the loan processing and loan service department including maintenance on customer accounts. Ensures proper loan-related internal control procedures are in place, implemented consistently and are adjusted as necessary; provides input to other areas of the bank operations to ensure that proper control procedures are in place.
  • Supervise all aspects of Loan Operations including generation of Loan documents, system administration, processing and servicing, account reconciliation and reporting functions, post-closing document review and imagining. Supervise all aspects of Loan servicing to include payment posting, loan booking, escrow processing, and system review. Manage post-closing function to ensure all documents are accurate. 
  • Oversee the Loan Operations staffing, hiring, training and development, coaching, staff reviews, performance management and problem resolution.
  • Works closely with the Compliance department to ensure the department and maintains thorough, up-to-date knowledge regulatory requirements, banking regulations, and internal policies and procedures. Responsible for developing, updating, revising all policies and procedures relative to loan processing area. 
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of current software systems and updates and adjusts procedures of the department as necessary.
  • Monitor and audit loan documents to ensure quality and ensures that the core system input accurately reflects contract terms.
  • Responsible for oversight of Loan year-end processing
  • Responsible for oversight of Loan escrow processing, to include periodic disbursements and analysis.
  • Report review for accuracy, to include loan maintenance, posted transaction, non-post rate changes and others as assigned.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline and improve loan processing procedures to increase productivity and reduce errors.
  • Effectively problem-solves complex situations and systems with staff to ensure successful resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field; five or more years of general bank and/or lending experience; 
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of financial institution and lending products, services and best practices. Knowledge and understanding of privacy, audit, and legal technology standards, guidelines, and principles. 
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of individuals with varying skill sets to complete the tasks assigned. 
  • Exceptional customer services and sales skills with the ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training for multiple employees using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Intermediate computer skills; mainframe computer system; and internet, word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to analyze urgent situations and prioritize needs
  • Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties.
  • Current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
