Empower Higher Education through Inclusive Tech Leadership! RTC's College Technology Services Team is hiring a Director of IT! The Director of Information Technology reports to the Executive Director of College Technology Services. The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Infrastructure Services team as well as the college information security program. This includes all networks; network security services; physical and virtual server infrastructure on premises and hosted in public or private cloud environments; storage; and backup and disaster recovery operations, as well as internal and external audits and assessments.
Working closely with the Executive Director to establish infrastructure direction and goals, the Director of IT is responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to the daily operations of the IT Infrastructure and System Administration team. This position develops, implements, and maintains processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of reliable, highly available, and secure network, communications, storage, and back-end computing resources to the college. This position ensures that the quality of system administration, identity management, integration, and application development services delivered to the campus is maintained at acceptable levels, including managing incident response and escalations, as well as future growth and disaster recovery planning. This position will communicate and consult regularly with other IT staff to ensure operational requirements are being met. This position works in a team environment with the rest of IT leadership to provide appropriate levels of IT support to meet the needs of the campus.
The pay range for this full-time exempt position is $118,000 to $128,000 Annually. The priority consideration date is on January 10th, 2024, but will remain open until filled.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include

- Manage the daily operations of the IT Infrastructure and System Administration team to establish and maintain efficient distribution of responsibilities, ensure that projects are adequately staffed, incident reports are responded to and resolved in a timely manner, and new project and resource requests are handled efficiently and effectively.
- Oversee planning, operations, and support for:
- Physical, virtualized, and cloud-based server and storage infrastructure
- Network and telecommunications infrastructure
- Identity management infrastructure, including but not limited to Okta and Microsoft Active Directory
- Cloud-based systems including but not limited to Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Google Workspace, and Amazon Web Services
- Backup and disaster recovery systems and services
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
- Seven years of IT experience with and emphasis in networking, system administration, or cloud computing; AND Three years of supervisory experience with an IT organization.
- Demonstrated ability to promote universal design and accessibility. Proficiency in (or ability to learn within 6 months of hire) the production of accessible content, whether print or electronic.
- Demonstrated customer service skills in past work history including excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, ability to read, write and interpret operation/maintenance manuals, equipment specifications, procedure manuals, ability to write proposals, reports and correspondence.
- Additional Preferences include:
- Certified Information Security Professional (CISSP) certification, or
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification
- Familiar with NIST and ISO security standards
- ITIL Foundations Certification
- Virtualization Experience
- Familiar with PCI DSS and GLBA compliance

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work performed is primarily sedentary in nature (seated, computer workstation work,) with frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens in performing work assignments, in an office environment which is adequately heated and ventilated. Meetings in locations are held on and off campus.

Dental Coverage
Renton Technical College provides dental coverage at no monthly premium cost to the employee. Benefit eligible employees have a choice of dental plans. Options include:

If you have other medical insurance you can choose to waive medical coverage for yourself or any family member. If you have existing coverage through your spouse or domestic partner, please contact the plan directly to see how they will coordinate benefits.
