Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Human Resources Operations to lead and drive our HR department's strategic efforts for long-term success. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that support the SWC's mission, values and objectives with a particular focus on inspiring and driving change, people operations, talent development strategies and compliance initiatives.
HR Director Key Responsibilities
1.) People Operations Strategies:
- Lead the HR team in managing HR operations, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration.
- Manage and oversee a performance management system.
- Develop and implement hiring and retention strategies and initiatives.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Continuously improve HR processes and systems for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain HR metrics and analytics to assess the effectiveness of HR operations. Generate regular reports and executive score cards on key HR metrics, trends, and insights to support data-driven decision-making.
- Understanding of ERP system and utilization of Paycor.
2.) Talent Development and Succession Planning:
- Develop and oversee talent development programs that promote employee and organizational growth, engagement, and retention.
- Work collaboratively with shop leadership to assist with Learning and Development to develop framework that aligns with the company's strategic goals.
- Implement mentoring and coaching programs to enhance employee skills and career development.
- Develop, manage and train the Human Resources team
- Develop and execute a comprehensive succession planning strategy to identify and prepare future leaders within the organization.
- Identify critical roles and create development plans for high-potential employees.
3.) Compliance Initiatives:
- Stay up to date with all relevant labor laws and regulations, ensuring company-wide compliance.
- Develop and implement compliance training programs.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address compliance gaps.
- Collaborate with the Director of Safety and Quality Control on Safety management implementation, strategies, and compliance.
4.) Change Management:
- Develop and implement change management strategies to support the company's evolving needs.
- Work closely with senior leadership to drive organizational change initiatives, ensuring successful adoption across the organization.
- Build a culture of resilience, adaptability, and innovation to support change.
HR Director Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field or six years of experience in field.
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.
- Proven experience as an HR Director or in a similar leadership role in a skilled trade (Manufacturing or Construction Preferred).
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with a focus on innovation and problem-solving.
- Demonstrated experience in managing change, talent development, and succession planning.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
