GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Financial Operations will oversee accounts payable and receivable, assist with accounting duties, and liaise with The Citadel staff and donors regarding The Citadel Foundation (TCF), The Citadel Brigadier Foundation (TCBF), and The Citadel Real Estate Foundation (TCREF) accounts. The Director of Financial Operations must work independently and rely on own initiative and judgment to complete tasks; must possess strong organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills; and must be able to work occasional nights and weekends.
REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer
DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL OPERATIONS DUTIES
Oversee accounts payable functions, including reconciliation and analysis of accounts payable, processing of invoice requests, check printing, and vendor maintenance
Perform tax compliance for 1099 reporting
Manage Foundation bank accounts including reconciliations and monitoring daily balances
Respond to vendor, client, and internal requests for information
Review gift processing for accuracy and process daily mail for gift entry
Manage, report, and reconcile monthly gift transfer to The Citadel
Liaise with donor and campus spending authorities on fund balance requests and ad hoc reports
Interact with merchant data processor to ensure credit card deposit accuracy for reconciliation
Manage and administer SAP Concur Travel and Expense platform to include monthly general ledger reconciliation, expense report processing, and employee training Provide support in budget preparation and drafting of relevant reports
Assist COO/CFO and Controller with annual financial statement audit for TCF, TCBF, and TCREF Ensure timely completion of assigned accounting tasks in accordance with the Foundation's policies and procedures
Maintain knowledge and up-to-date training of the data systems, entering donor information, and preparing reports as requested
Maintain TCF's permanent files to include logging, scanning, and off-site storage in accordance with record retention policy
Collaborate with Controller on various projects
Participate in planning and execution of TCF and TCBF events as needed
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited institution of higher education
Minimum of two (2) or more years of work experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
Effective oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated organizational skills
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, Power Point
Ability to work effectively with other staff members and campus representatives
The successful individual will be enthusiastic and able to handle the needs of a fast-paced office and the special needs of donors
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA or actively pursuing CPA license
Two (2) or more years of direct experience in nonprofit accounting, preferably in a higher education setting
Experience with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge
Experience with SAP Concur
