Position Summary
Salt + Light’s Director of Finance and Administration is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing and managing the financial and administrative functions of the organization. This role is essential in ensuring effective financial management, compliance, and the smooth operation of administrative processes. They oversee the financial management and accounting functions of the organization, including budgeting, financial management, compliance, and the oversight of the bookkeeping and accounting. They are responsible for oversight of medical, grant, and contract billing.

- Mission Leadership
- Ensure Salt + Light carries out its mission, vision, and Theory of Change
- Represent Salt + Light and its mission externally to funders, donors, community leaders, partnering organizations, local businesses, affiliated boards and committees, and at conferences and conventions
- Develop and maintain positive and dependable relationships with our neighbors experiencing homelessness, homelessness advocates and organizations, donors, volunteers, and the media
- Serve as the management liaison to the Executive team, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at select Board of Directors and committee meetings
- Financial Strategy, Reporting and Budget Management
- Develop and execute the organization’s financial strategy in alignment with its mission and goals
- Create and maintain long-term financial plans and forecasts
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, statements, and analysis for the Executive team
- Provide financial reporting for all grants and contracts
- Audit financial position, analyzing and investigating variances, summarizing data, information, and trends
- Oversee financial reporting and billing to Managed Care Plans
- Advise the Executive team and other key members of senior management on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters
- Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to create and manage annual and grant budgets
- Monitor budget performance and make necessary adjustments as needed
- Oversee all financial, project/program, and grants accounting and appropriate controls
- Administrative Oversight
- Oversee human resources including supervision of human resource staff
- Maintain the organization’s insurances
- Oversee technology and information systems to support Salt + Light’s operations.
- Ensure data security and privacy.
- Monitor legal and regulatory compliance, contracts, and agreements.
- Compliance
- Oversee financial compliance by staying up to date with relevant regulations and policies, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accounting standards
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance
- Oversee the organization’s annual audit
- File all appropriate nonprofit paperwork with state and federal agencies
- Bookkeeper Oversight
- Manage and oversee the bookkeeping team
- Oversee and review all financial records, ledgers, and accounts
- Enhanced Care Management and Community Support
- Supervise and oversee the billing process for Managed Care Plans
- Ensure timely and accurate billing submissions and revenue collection
- Work with Case Managers and the Neighbor Care department to ensure compliance with Managed Care Plan standards
- Managed Care Plan Collaboration
- Collaborate with Managed Care Plans to maintain contract obligations and reimbursement requirements
- Monitor and maintain relationships

Compensation:
$80,000-$85,000 annually

- Education
- B.A. or equivalent finance, accounting, nonprofit administration, human resources or related field
- Experience
- 2-5 years of experience in the field of Finance or accounting, preferably nonprofit
- Knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and coordinate various projects
- Demonstrated knowledge of bookkeeping
- Ability to take on and complete complex projects with little or no supervision
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Technology Skills
- Understanding of Quickbooks and Virtuous
- Advanced computer skills required
- Microsoft office software familiarity required
- Google Drive familiarity preferred
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Driver’s License, moderate travel required
- CPA (Preferred)
