The Director of Facilities is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all facilities at the Simon C. Fireman Community in Randolph (205 apartments) and the Leyland Community in Dorchester (43 units), including management and supervision of maintenance technicians and housekeeping staff. The Director of Facilities is responsible for managing all contractors, vendors and service companies providing services to Fireman and Leyland in connection with the maintenance and operation of the facilities, including ensuring high usage of minority and women owned businesses. The Director of Facilities is also responsible for setting and enforcing standards, policies, procedures, and schedules for the operation and maintenance of Facilities at both communities.  The Director of Facilities creates and manages to a budget and partners with other leadership staff to ensure the highest level of supports and services are provided to residents.


 

  • Excellent knowledge, background and experience in all building trades, building construction, building and grounds maintenance
  • Working knowledge of facility cleaning/housekeeping procedures and standards
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.  Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Building Construction, Engineering or related field and/or professional training/certification and licensing preferred
  • 3-5 years management/supervisory experience in facilities/plant management
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to prepare budget and other reports, respond to email and schedule appointments
  • Budget creation and budget management experience
  • Ability to positively interact with personnel, customers, family members, visitors, vendors, government agencies and the general public.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other safety guidelines
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time and climb ladders
