Visionary Leader & Hands-on Builder
The Director of Engineering is a vital leadership role for Bentkey Ventures and The Daily Wire. This position requires a combination of future-think as well as in-the-moment actualization. Outstanding communication and an instinct for proactive collaboration are non-negotiable. You will team directly with the President of Product & Technology along with other stakeholders and partners to shape the future of our software architecture in support of delivering the next generation of Daily Wire and Bentkey products.

Requirements
    • Technical Visionary: Chart the course of our technological evolution. Make high-level infrastructure choices, dictating technical standards and platforms to power our future innovation.
    • Agile: Orchestrate project planning with a sense of urgency. Define timelines, resources, and scope, ensuring products land on time and within budget, every sprint.
    • QA Champ: Build an ironclad quality assurance strategy and process. Prevent user experience nightmares before they happen, and swiftly catch any that slip through, ensuring unwavering reliability for our users and business objectives.
    • Source of Motivational: Lead by example, and inspire your team with infectious enthusiasm and a clear vision for the future. Foster a collaborative environment where everyone thrives.
    • Hands-on: Dive into the code alongside your team. Be a mentor, a coach, and a roll-up-your-sleeves builder who influences with actions and inspires technical excellence.
    • Communication Catalyst: Bridge the gap between your technical expertise and our business goals. Translate intricate concepts into compelling narratives that allow colleagues, stakeholders, and users to understand and participate in solutioning.
    • Agile Evangelist: Foster a culture of agility, speed, and adaptability. Embrace change, experiment rapidly, and learn from every sprint, optimizing enhancing our development process for continuous improvement.
    • Change Champion: Question the status quo of 'That's how it's always been done'. Foster a culture of change and creative solutions.

Qualifications
    • 7+ years of experience in software engineering leadership roles, ideally within a high-growth, start-up environment.
    • 10+ years of full stack application architecture experience with a deep understanding of how to scale applications with large data sets.
    • Ability to reverse engineer existing solutions to understand how they work, find and recommend areas of improvement.
    • Proven track record of successfully building and scaling software architectures for agile teams.
    • Strong in relevant programming languages and software development methodologies.
    • Experience in software deployment and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Proficient in cloud first technologies such as serverless functions, cloud storage, containers and kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
    • Exceptional communicator, able to connect with diverse audiences, across technical and non-technical domains.
    • Demonstrated experiences to leading project planning and completion in highly iterative environments, meeting timelines with quality.
    • A collaborative and empathetic leadership style that inspires, motivates, and fosters a strong team culture.
