Responsibilities
The Director of Engineering contributes to the organization’s success by playing a strategic and tactical role in all key tech functions and initiatives as assigned by CTO. This includes but is not limited to, technical decision making, driving prioritization, and execution, while managing outstanding engineers and engineering managers in a fast-paced, impact focused environment. While this position requires you to work closely with the CTO, there is an opportunity for self-tasking based on program level priority.
In this position your development scope is full stack with support by front-end UX/UI development team. You’ll be ensuring each production is managed in a time sensitive manner, with a client first approach making sure the software is effective, reliable and user-friendly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build, manage and support diverse teams of software engineers and engineering managers
- Provide both technical and organizational leadership
- Form cross-functional and cross-discipline partnerships to drive engineering efforts
- Establish effective strategies and execute against them
- Uphold principles of respect, integrity, inclusion, innovation
- Can collaborate with Product and Engineering Leadership in the ideation, strategy, execution, and delivery deadlines
- API Development and Integration
- Event based triggers from various sources
- Custom integrations and automation between GETTR Platforms and Corporate IT
- Full stack development w/support from front-end UX/UI dev team
- Production support of corporate IT initiatives
- Participation in scrum ceremonies (at your direction provided compatible with supporting team cadences)
- Assess existing integration services and function to identify flaws, inefficiencies, and risks
- Leading team of 5+ direct reports
- All other duties assigned by CTO
Environmental and Physical Requirements
- Will be working in an office environment
- Must be able to sit for 8+ hours

Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Bonus points for experience in digital operations:
- ACH transactions, International Wire transfers, Cryptography (HSM/Key Management/Blockchain), Slack, Office 365, Gitlab CI
Work Experience
- 12-15 years of experience in IT
- 8-10 as a developer
- 7+ years as a lead
- Redis, Vue.js (Nuxt.js/Nest.js), Salesforce, General eCommerce SaaS (Shopify), GCP, Firestore, MongoDB
- (Quickbooks Online and other financial product experience are a plus)
Language Skills
- Nodejs (ESM/ES6) as the primary coding language
- GoLang is acceptable
- JAVA, JAVA SCRIPT, REACT, FLUTTER (Mobile Developments – Android etc…)

- Experience with a fast-paced start-up environment
- Experience managing hybrid, virtual teams, across time zones
- Software development frameworks
- Analytical skills to interpret complex data sets
- Problem-solving skills to determine the cause of bugs and resolve complaints
- Strong oral communication skills to train, coach, and collaborate with other staff
- Ability to produce informative reports
- Ability to present information to Software Engineers and the management team
- Organization and delegation skills to break large projects down into milestones and assign tasks best suited to team members
- Leadership skills to direct the activities of other Engineers and provide effective coaching and training
