Purpose
To serve as a Director on the Corporate Relations team working with university leaders, faculty and staff to build and strengthen corporate partnerships and secure resources that support the mission of the University of Texas at Austin.
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of 20-25 corporations in the Artificial Intelligence and Society, Retail, Hospitality and Consumer sector, with a goal of securing $1-$2M within two years of start date and $2-3 million dollars annually within three years of start date.
  • Engage in qualification, strategy, relationship building, and closing of corporate gifts of six figures and above.
  • Design and execute holistic partnership strategies targeting new and existing industry partners.
  • Develop high-quality presentations and proposals to potential corporate partners.
  • Develop a broad and deep understanding of university priorities across campus as outlined by the President, Provost, Vice President of Research, Academic and Research Deans, and Director of Sustainability.
  • Work with faculty and fundraising colleagues across campus in affiliated brand and sales units (Moody College, iSchool, Business School, School of Design and Creative Technology) to develop effective fundraising strategies that translate into successful proposals.
  • Become familiar with university policies related to gifts, sponsorships, sponsored research, and in-kind donations.
  • Represent the University to external constituencies; coordinate approaches to funders; and support university and college/school leadership in major solicitations to corporations.
  • Work collaboratively and transparently with schools and colleges and with other UT offices that are involved in securing and stewarding external funds (e.g., Office of Sponsored Research, Office of Industry Engagement, Office of the Provost, UT Foundation, others).
  • Document all substantive contacts with corporations.
  • Secure visits, organize corporate site visits and assist in identifying high-level stewardship.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute successful full-cycle donor strategy.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to show tenacity and be nimble.
  • Ability to drive results.
  • Highly effective communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal).
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively and work well under pressure.
  • Project management skills.
  • Capable of working independently, while also engaging in collaboration between teams.
  • Ability to travel frequently to visit prospects and donors.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain integrity and professionalism.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in the retail, hospitality and consumer sectors. Understanding of the local corporate ecosystems. Experienced in corporate/foundation fundraising.
Salary Range
$105,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
  • Typical office environment. Must also be able to work remotely. Must be able to travel frequently, overnight and weekends as necessary.

Employment Eligibility:
Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
