Summary:
This position is responsible for providing leadership and vision for the Center for Women and Gender Equity (CWGE) and team. This position maintains faculty, staff, and community relationships and fosters a culture of collaboration and care for students and colleagues, with specific attention to equity in outcomes based on proven best practice and high-impact retention strategies.
Primary Duties:
- Provide leadership and vision for the CWGE; manage and oversee the day-to-day operations, processes, development, and performance of the CWGE team.
- Oversee the overall coordination and implementation of the center's programs and services on GVSU campuses.
- Oversee the implementation and administration of federal and state grant-funded programs- serving as Principal Investigator of Fostering Laker Success Grant, obtaining renewal funding each grant cycle.
- Oversee the administration of the Replenish Basic Needs Center including strategic planning, expansion planning, and assessment.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and assessment of the CWGE's Strategic Plan and Annual Report.
- Respond to state and federal reporting requirements for both the division and elsewhere within the university.
- Provide information, advocacy, referral, and other direct services to center clientele including providing assistance and guidance to students and families regarding personal, financial, and academic issues and violence response services.
- Coordinate external communication efforts in conjunction with University Communications (media requests, etc.) and maintain and enhance visibility of the CWGE through marketing efforts including web site and marketing materials.
- Work alongside campus partners to locate and generate alumni donations as well as stewardship of current funds. Coordinate annual giving campaigns for the center, Replenish, Girls of Color Summit, Fostering Laker Success, and other center programs as needed.
- Identify and participate in research related to gender justice at the local, state, and national level.
- Oversee and manage budget and fundraising efforts for the center and other designated grants, endowment, and scholarship funds.
- Serve on Social Justice Center Leadership Team- creating policy, procedures, and processes for the Units.
- Maintain and strengthen collaborative partnerships with various diverse communities through representation at community's events and programs.
- Performs other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master's degree in Women and Gender studies, education, social work, or related field.
- Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
- Experience managing and supervising teams.
- Budget, grant writing implementation, and assessment experience.
- Experience directing programming efforts from design to assessment.
- Experience managing websites and social media platforms.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of and commitment to issues of diversity, Gender Equity, and social justice.
- Ability to work with students in crisis using a trauma informed lens and familiarity with best practices in this area.
- A high degree of confidentiality, discretion, judgment, collaboration, and the ability to build strong relationships.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master's degree in women's studies, education, or related field.
- Experience related to retention in higher education.
- Higher education experience.
- Experience developing and delivering diversity, equity, and inclusion education, workshops, and training.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.

SALARY: $75,000 - 85,000 commensurate with experience
