Overview
HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Director of Infrastructure Ops reporting to the VP of Infrastructure and Operations. This is a high-impact role focused on CloudOps, DevOps and Infrastructure resilience. The Director will drive initiatives to make the infrastructure more global, cloud-first and resilient. This role will manage a small team as well as collaborate with shared services teams to deliver on these initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Cloud and DevOps- Coordinates with shared services partners and service providers to ensure proper cloud infrastructure is provisioned and available. Manages DevOps function, partnering with the development and data teams to optimize the CI/CD pipeline. Cost-optimizes the cloud environment, ensuring the proper level of cloud infrastructure is leveraged and unused or underutilized assets are scaled back appropriately.
Strategy- Collaborates with the VP of Infrastructure and Director of Service Delivery to develop and implement the Infrastructure Strategy, ensuring alignment with the broader IT Strategy and HarperCollins business priorities.
Resiliency- Develops improved continuity and recovery plans. Implements appropriate recovery controls to mature organizational resilience.
Supports Cyber Security, Privacy, and compliance (e.g., SOX, PCI) initiatives as they apply to infrastructure and cloud. Implements security and privacy by design.
Expedites key issues and requests and other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
Experience building and managing teams.
Ability to manage by influence (e.g., matrix management, vendor management, partnering with shared services teams)
Flexibility and adaptability to manage in a changing environment
Ability to see the big picture as well as deliver tactically
Ability to understand the technologies and the business drivers and communicate clearly to the implementation teams and the business
Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud service providers. GCP experience is a plus
Familiarity with Windows, Linux, Active Directory, networking concepts, security principles, CI/CD and devops practices

The salary range for this position is $125,000-$140,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
