About Flourish
Would you like to join a highly motivated team on a mission to dramatically improve the lives of teens struggling with early indicators of serious mental health concerns? 1 in 25 adolescents and young adults will be diagnosed with psychosis-related disorders, mood disorders, major depressive disorders and other related conditions every year. The majority of these families struggle for decades to find stability and a pathway forward that minimizes suffering. Yet, for 5% of these families, the journey is very different- an outcome of stability and lasting recovery. Why? Contrary to popular belief, it is not due to the genetic lottery – it is because they have access to care that works.
Flourish Health (www.flourish.health) is here because it isn’t just our story, but one that affects millions of families; and probably somebody you know too. It is crystal clear that the suffering often associated with serious mental illness is preventable. We are here to ensure that everybody gets the same access we have.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled psychologist with experience supervising integrated care teams. You are familiar with our patient population: adolescents and transition aged youth with medicaid who have recently been discharged after a psychiatric hospitalization.
This means you have worked with high acuity adolescent patients before and are comfortable treating and overseeing care for patients with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma disorders, disruptive behavioral disorders, and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. You are comfortable working collaboratively with psychiatrists, master’s level therapists, and paraprofessionals. You understand the value that each of these team members bring and you can set the tone for healthy interdisciplinary conflict and collaboration.
Culturally, you have experience and humility working with patients on medicaid. These patients and their family members are struggling against economic marginalization. More than half of our patients belong to racial and ethnic groups that experience interpersonal and systemic discrimination. You know the literature shows that these patients and families are likely to have valid reasons to approach healthcare teams with a deep need for rebuilding trust. You approach Patient Care with respect for that.
You will be responsible for the mental healthcare our teams deliver to these patients and families. At Flourish, every patient gets a psychiatrist, therapist, patient advocate and case manager. Each of these disciplines has a team lead. Those four team leads will report to you. As the senior supervisor, you understand the difference between having a different style than the treating clinician vs being concerned about safe clinical decision making. You can respect the former and know how to intervene on the latter. Your job is to oversee the “big picture” of care that is provided for each patient by their interdisciplinary team.
You are an experienced and skilled people manager. You build teams up. You help your team find the “we” and create space for their unique skill sets and belonging. You find their strengths and you help them build weaknesses into competencies or strengths. You approach feedback directly, compassionately, and as a coach. You seek feedback from your team and are able to adapt your communication style for the needs of your individual team members. You are comfortable supporting your team behind the scenes. You support them in delivering exceptionally good Patient Care at scale.
You work well cross functionally, as the representative voice for Patient Care in conversations with many other teams, including: growth, product management, program development and clinical operations. You will be comfortable providing the structure for safe Patient Carein the environment of a growing startup.
You will:
- Supervise care during crisis escalations
- Provide (and seek) complex case consultation
- Make sure the team is working well as an integrated team
- Review Patient Care without being micromanaging
- Attend each team’s rounds
- Attend each team’s group consultation time

- Partner with the VP of Clinical Operations in building out the operations behind wraparound mental healthcare across ten states
