Position Summary

The HR Director for the Manati, Puerto Rico site will establish the HR strategic priorities and direction based on business needs, internal client needs, and external trends aligned to corporate strategy. This role will provide strategic HR Business Partner leadership to support the local Biologics Operations Leadership Team, in their execution of the Global Product Development & Supply (“GPS”) organization’s People Strategy. Main areas of focus include but are not limited to driving culture and engagement initiatives, organizational design, strategic talent, performance and succession management, change management and workforce planning. Responsible for contributing to a high performing culture resulting in the engagement, development, and retention of Human Resources in a dynamic, highly regulated manufacturing environment. Responsible for the integration of HR policies and strategies at the site. This role will report to the VP HRBP Biologics & Pharma Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic HR Business Partner leadership to the site General Manager & their respective teams to drive business performance and foster cooperation across the enterprise.

  • Ensures the implementation and success of the People Strategy and the full implementation of the HR Operating Model (HROM).

  • Strategic and consultative, who drives execution excellence through the People Services (PS) team.

  • Leverages business strategy, people strategy, external best-practices and organizational insights to deliver bold and innovative organizational and talent solutions.

  • Leads and drives the talent plan with an enterprise lens.

  • Applies “systems thinking” and leads change for organization effectiveness and performance through the use of metrics and analytics in a way that drives business performance.

  • Applies judgment to data insights and trends to support business talent and organization decisions that drives organizational effectiveness and innovative and robust workforce planning, engagement strategies, and succession management.

  • Collaborates across the HROM (with HR COE’s and the People Services teams) to articulate business needs and partners in delivering solutions in ways that bring value across the enterprise; accountable for the full implementation and stabilization of the HROM at the site, which includes establishing priorities with People Services and CoE partners as well as leading change with the site leadership team.

  • Through Strategic Workforce Planning, helps identify organizational capabilities needed to become a best-in-class organization that is a competitive advantage to the organization.

  • Drives and leads GPS wide People Projects, understanding local complexities and needs during implementation.

  • Establishes the People Strategy in close partnership with the site leadership team.

  • Takes a leadership role in creating a respectful and inclusive work environment while role-modeling the BMS values and behaviors and fostering cultural diversity.

  • Represents BMS with external environment in the local/state communities and establishes a proper branding strategy with key external stakeholders including schools, colleges and local communities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, psychology, management, or related fields. Advanced degree in Human Resources Management and/or Industrial Organizational Psychology preferred.

  • Prior experience working in multinational pharma, biopharma, biotech or medical devices industries, preferred.

  • Minimum 10+ years of strong and effective experience in Human Resources functions with proven experience in Workforce Planning, Strategic Talent Management (including Performance Management), Organizational Effectiveness and Change Management as well as other critical HR related practices.

  • Extensive experience as an HR Business Partner with significant proven leadership skills.

  • Proven success in working effectively at senior management levels to impact and influence decision making.

  • Experience working with global teams and in a heavily matrixed environment.

  • Proven application in leveraging business acumen and external insights to improve business and talent outcomes.

  • Experience in leading significant change management and culture activation efforts including defining change and communication plans.

  • Experience in the use of metrics and analytics in a way that drives business performance.

  • Demonstrated experience in applying workforce planning knowledge, engagement strategies, and succession management.

  • Proven experience in working effectively within a matrixed environment and building alignment in a cross functional and team environment.

  • Knowledge of external trends and factors that influence human behaviors and decision-making at the individual, group, and organizational level.

  • Fully bilingual: Spanish and English
