EdisonLearning, Inc. is seeking a Director, Grants Management and Career and Technical Education. This position is based in our Fort Lauderdale, FL Corporate Headquarters.

Job Summary

The Director, Grants Management and Career and Technical Education supports the company’s Finance and Achievement teams as responsibilities and projects are assigned from time to time. The Director will collaborate with Finance and the Achievement teams to ensure grant seeking, grant administration, grant Management and e-Rate processes are completed within a timely manner. The Director performs a variety of supervisory and administrative tasks in monitoring and assisting the programs for Career and Technical Education, supervises the overall effectiveness of CTE programs, and ensures all are implemented within federal, state, and local regulations.

The Director, Grants Management and Career and Technical Education also supervises the Enrollment Teams and directs the Principals with respect to the implementation of the Child Nutrition Program with fidelity. This position handles highly confidential information on a regular basis and must perform duties in a manner that always maintains confidentiality.

Main Responsibilities:

Grants

  • Conducts grant opportunities research and dissemination of this research to EdisonLearning HQ staff as appropriate;
  • Collaborates with school principals in the development of grant applications and proposals.
  • Collaborates with school principals in the implementation of awarded grants in accordance with district, state and other grant requirements;
  • Monitors NorthStar Academies grants activities through the maintenance of a grants database and hard copy files;
  • Conducts periodic reviews of grant account coding by schools and follow up with key personnel;
  • Manages grant funding requests and the assignment of grant codes; maintain grant code master;
  • As directed by Finance and Vice President of School Operations, participates in monitoring grant programs and report components, communicating with NorthStar Academy Principals, collaborative partners and granting agencies;
  • Uses assigned database and on-line services to track and manage grant information and generate grant reports;
  • Confers with district staff in resolving grant questions raised during the implementation of grant programs;
  • Under the direction of Finance, conducts ongoing grant reviews to identify areas of concern in the program implementation process, and targets corrective actions to ensure that expenditure of funds reflects program requirements;
  • Keeps abreast of current school system developments, grants availability and process that may impact the implementation and management of grant programs;
  • Maintain records and master files for all projects and grants activities as assigned by Finance;

E-Rate

  • Coordinates with the E-Rate Consultant and Finance to ensure the completion of E-Rate applications within a timely manner;
  • Provides assistance on the maximization of E-Rate funding and the allocation of grant funds to allowable costs;
  • Coordinates the efforts and information between EdisonLearning’s E-Rate Consultant and Federal Schools and Libraries Division of Universal Services Administrative Company (USAC), the Universal Service Fund of the Federal Communications Commission;
  • Attends required trainings and remain current with E-Rate grant programs and management principles;
  • Works cross-functionally with site staff, E-Rate Consultant and EdisonLearning Technology Services and Finance Departments;
  • Ensures online database record management for all services, invoices, payments and program tracking, (examples: Forms 470, 471, 472, 479, 486, Letters of Authorization, National School Lunch Program letters and program data, etc.);
  • Receives reimbursement checks from vendors and assigns disbursement allocation in coordination with Finance Department.

Career Technical Education

  • Works with the Lead CTE content area instructors to develop and implement comprehensive CTE programs for students in Career and Technical Education;
  • Provides direction and supervision of CTE program employees; consults with centrally based staff and school-based staff on individual cases and on interpretation of federal, state and local policies and procedures;
  • Provides leadership to maintain accreditation of the Council on Occupational Education;
  • Supervises and directs CTE instructors in coordinating with local agencies, parents, and school personnel to resolve problems and secure needed resources and services;
  • Supervises personnel administration duties for the CTE Programs such as hiring, terminations, evaluations, assigning special duties, monitoring attendance, travel reports, and approving leaves;
  • Assists in the preparation of budgets for the programs; coordinates with other departments or agencies to ensure maximum services; monitors expenditures of approved budgets;
  • Directs and supports the CTE Leads in conducting random moment in time studies as required by applicable state and school district program guidelines;
  • Directs and supports the CTE Leads in coordinating all CTE programs with applicable local Community College and not for profit vocational schools.

Child Nutrition: Procurement:

  • Develops standardized policies and procedures supporting EdisonLearning clients’ Child Nutrition Programs;
  • Communicates federal and state Child Nutrition Program regulations, guidelines, and contractual requirements to clients to support program compliance;
  • Directs on-site school staff in conducting program compliance reviews, including program administration, free and reduced eligibility, program accounting, meal service, vendor performance, wellness and sanitation;
  • Provides state, federal and independent audit support to sites;
  • Assists with training of school leadership teams on the Child Nutrition Program related policies and procedures;
  • Guides school staff on available training resources for the Point of Service system used to manage the Child Nutrition Programs, and Certification including Free & Reduced applications, verification, and reimbursements;
  • Directs onsite school staff with the preparation of claim reimbursements and claim processing as needed;
  • Develops and provides reports for site staff and HQ management to provide useful trend data and potential areas of improvement.

Enrollment:

  • Collaborates with the EdisonLearning Achievement and Finance teams as well as the principals to understand corporate’s strategic enrollment goals, oversee each school’s annual enrollment targets and ensure alignment of enrollment strategies with corporate goals;
  • Supervises the creation and execution of student recruitment campaigns for all NorthStar Academies;
  • Supervises the creation of collateral and recruitment materials for all campaigns;
  • Works with EdisonLearning Achievement, Finance and Human Resources teams, as applicable, as well as with principals in the recruitment, hiring and training of community engagement liaisons and enrollment coordinators;
  • Directs the school site teams on the management of relationships with external vendors and community-based organizations to facilitate grassroots campaign strategies;
  • Directs the school site teams on metrics for tracking the effectiveness of campaigns, identifying creative and cost-effective solutions to each campaign requirement;
  • Directs the school site teams on the implementation and usage of Client Relationship Management (CRM) system for enrollment lead management;
  • Leads marketing and enrollment meetings and provide reports to the VP of School Operations
  • Supervises the capacity building of the Enrollment staff to ensure the success of enrollment strategies.

Background:


  • College degree required or equivalent experience
  • Experience in education or Human Resources arena preferred
  • Strong employee and/or customer relations experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of employment laws preferred
  • Superior interpersonal and relationship building skills, including excellent verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in MS Office required, comfortable using web-based tools
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks successfully
