Director – Government Relations

Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities

Enviri is seeking an experienced professional to join its Government Relations team as an advocate focused on North America and the corporation’s environmental solutions businesses. This individual will be responsible for advancing Enviri’s competitive advantage through the development and implementation of government and public relations strategies. These efforts will include engagement at all levels of government and with other non-government stakeholders. The emphasis will be on environmental remediation, recycling/reuse, and sustainability. The ideal candidate will have environmental science knowledge, demonstrate proven success in a dynamic and fast paced atmosphere, and show critical thinking, innovation, and strategic agility in executing on multiple, complex initiatives. This position will report to the Vice President – Global Government Relations and will be based in Enviri Corporation’s Washington, DC office.

Primary Responsibilities Include the Following

• Establishes and maintains a constructive relationship with key federal, state, and local elected officials, and federal/state agencies to create a favorable attitude for Enviri, its divisions, facilities, and projects.
• Acts as corporate liaison with various trade associations and other non-government organizations to assure that the corporate interests are promoted and/or not impaired.
• Monitors federal and state legislation/regulation and conducts analysis of public policy initiatives.

• Develops advocacy materials, optimally utilizes consultants, and manages other internal corporate Government Relations functions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• 5-years of experience, including at least 2 years within a Federal or State Legislative office or an Executive Branch Agency.
• Experience with environmental laws and regulations at both the federal and state level.

• Ability to write clearly and concisely to develop persuasive and effective advocacy and communication materials.
• Aptitude to manage multiple projects and priorities while collaborating with or leading other internal teams (e.g., Communications, Business Development, Marketing, Legal.)
• Ability to work autonomously with limited direction.
• Ability to attend work predictably and regularly in the Washington, DC office.
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
• Flexibility to attend (in-person/virtually) non-core hour events, including meetings with international portions of Enviri.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10-years of experience.
• Bachelor's degree in science or engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience in the environmental services, sustainability, and/or circular economy industries.
