Job Description

Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Engineering & Construction to join our growing team. As Director, Engineering & Construction, you will report to the VP Network Planning, Engineering, and Constructionand will be responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and execution of the Engineering and Construction organization for the assigned Brightspeed regional area. This role requires strong business acumen, the abilities to define and implement groundbreaking ideas, to lead diverse teams, to work within a fast-moving environment to rapidly deliver support and services that have a broad business impact, and desire to have an industry wide impact.

AsDirector, Engineering & Construction,you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Direct engineering team and infrastructure services providers in all build design strategies and deployment scheduling and requirements
  • Leads a geographically dispersed team responsible for all enterprise and wholesale network expansions, fiber to the tower deployments, and network infrastructure upgrades
  • Drives the company culture and strategies. Creates strategies to achieve business goals such as increasing revenues, optimizing expenses, and developing a skilled, motivated, satisfied, and diverse workforce
  • Provides strong leadership, including communicating vision, strategy, and objectives. Leads by example in creating an environment that encourages open communication, sharing ideas and best practices, and building strong cross-functional relationships
  • Strategically works with other functional leaders in innovation and driving cross functional process changes
  • Responsible for driving efficiency and improvement into the network and operational technical processes and infrastructure
  • Utilize critical data to drive ongoing operational and network performance improvement, understanding the return on investment, workforce optimization, and supporting service metric root cause analysis
  • Prepares and presents results to senior leadership
  • Partner with teams to prioritize business needs and stay up to date with the goals of the organization as they evolve. Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships across the company
  • Conduct and ensure timely employee appraisal reviews and progress reports for your team
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical work experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to hire, develop, and motivate team members
  • Significant experience in Engineering and construction management within a telecom environment
  • Experience in managing 3rd party relationships in network deployments
  • Experience with operational and Engineering systems and applications within the network and communication industry
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead cross-functional teams
  • Visionary thinking that is complimented by shaping and executing strategy
  • Customer-centric mindset
  • Encourages teamwork and collaboration - excellent coaching skills and the ability to build employee commitment
  • Ability to motivate others and work under pressure

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or Business Administration
  • Telecom/Cable/Internet Service Provider industry experience
  • Demonstrated practical experience in Lean Six Sigma methods and techniques
