- Oversight of ILS clinical and research Laboratory Operations execution.
- Drives operational strategic decision making and execution for short term and long term outlooks with regards to assay portfolio, capacity, staffing, equipment, facilities, and process execution.
- Develop and maintain annual operational budget, driving team to meet quarterly and annual financial targets.
- Provides briefings and presentations to senior leadership on state of Laboratory Operations and advises on strategic business decisions.
- Maintain and continuously improve operational KPIs and dashboarding to provide visibility of overall performance.
- Liaise with ILS bioinformatics and software teams to ensure appropriate user requirements are provided and met as needed for function of laboratory.
- Maintain and drive employee enrichment and engagement with staff updates, communication, and goal setting.
- Provide coaching for management staff to drive continued improvement in leadership ability and strong succession planning.
- In collaboration with ILS Quality department, ensure adherence to and continued maintenance of quality policies and procedures for all phases of testing, to include the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing as well as general laboratory systems.
- Ensure robust training and competency system is maintained for all staff.
- Ensure the physical laboratory environmental conditions are appropriate for the testing performed and provide a safe environment that protects employees from physical, chemical, and biological hazards and in compliance with all federal, state and local agencies.
- 10+ years relevant experience managing or supervision a high complexity testing laboratory.
- 5+ years experience in and oversight of CLIA / CAP Accredited Clinical Laboratories strongly preferred
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in biological sciences
- Industry experience and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and technologies within nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, next generation sequencing, and genotyping required.
- Practical knowledge of liquid handling automation
- Practical knowledge of LIMS systems
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 25% of time to support operations in northern and southern California and collaborations with lab operations teams in the UK.
