Responsibilities:
- Provide Direct Support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for individuals
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Collaborate with nurses and healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of individuals
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel
- Provide hospice care and support to individuals and their families, if applicable
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding, as needed
- Perform heavy lifting and transferring of individuals, as required
Skills:
- Experience working with people with autism or developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of ADLs and ability to assist individuals with their personal care needs
- Strong cleaning skills to maintain a clean and sanitary environment
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality
- Ability to work collaboratively with nurses and other healthcare professionals
- Basic understanding of vital signs monitoring and reporting
- Compassionate and empathetic approach when providing hospice care, if applicable
- Proficiency in meal preparation techniques and dietary restrictions, if applicable
- Physical strength and ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting individuals
- Patience, understanding, and effective communication skills when working with individuals with developmental disabilities
