Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for the implementation and supervision of day training programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position reports directly to the E.D..
Part-Time D.S.P.’s will work 21 hours per week on a normal basis, however hours will be flexible and may vary according to events and special circumstances. The Board of Directors has deemed that D.S.P.s will be held responsible to assist in any fundraising activity or event that the Executive Director feels needs the assistance. In these circumstances D.S.P.s will be given time off during the normal work week to account for hours worked in the same week for such events.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
****First and foremost always respect the individuals and treat them with dignity.
1. Work together with other staff in developing and maintaining a daily schedule of instructional activities.
2. Assist in the development of appropriate day training goals for individuals served.
3. Handle inappropriate behaviors in a manner which ensures minimal disruption within the program setting.
4. Select and utilize techniques, materials, and equipment for training which will adapt to each individual’s needs and abilities.
5. Record progress in a monthly staff note report on all individuals as mandated by regulatory standards.
6. Keep daily records of attendance and hours of attendance.
7. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect individuals, equipment, materials and facility.
8. Work directly with individuals in training situations and perform other duties as assigned.
9. Assist with MCEC fundraising events as deemed necessary by Executive Director and Board of Directors.
10. Complete any and all necessary training for job duties performed (e.g. College of Direct Supports, First Aid, CPR, HIPPA Confidentiality Training, etc.)
11. Must write staff notes that meet governing agency requirements and perform any duties related to objectives. Each D.S.P. will be held responsible for each of their assigned individual’s staff notes and must keep them up to date. Any falsification of staff notes is grounds for immediate termination
12. Assist case management with implementation of individual centered outcomes.
13. Administer medications to individuals while meeting all medication administration policies and procedures
14. Transport individuals to various work-sites and community outings
15. Other duties as assigned
Ergonomics:
D.S.P.s job duties primarily revolve around supervising individuals. The following are the working conditions and ergonomics required of this position:
- D.S.P.s will be indoors in a heated/air conditioned building 95% of the time the other 5% will be comprised of outdoor outings and events with the individuals -- if the weather is too cold or hot for comfort staff and individuals alike will NOT be participating in outdoor activities
- Walking/mobilizing from one area of the building to another is essential in this job position 100% of the time
- The ability to speak English and communicate both written and verbally in English is mandatory for this position 100% of the time
- Sight and vision is a requirement of this position due to the supervisory nature of the role, this will comprise 100% of the employee’s time
- Lifting supplies and objects will be limited to only a maximum of 5% of the time and a maximum of 30 pounds
- Pushing and pulling objects such as wheelchairs may be involved in this job positions 50% of the time
- Bending and stooping will be minimally required of this position, only 10% of the time
- Writing and typing will be required of this position 50% of the time
- D.S.P.s will primarily be seated during the day for 90% of the time
- Occasionally D.S.P.s will be driving company vehicles, 10% of the time
Supervision Given:
Supervises no staff personnel
Minimum Qualifications:
1. 18 years of age with a minimum of two (2) years experience working in a disability related field.
2. Must possess a valid Kentucky driver’s license.
3. The ability to perform written and verbal instruction and communicate verbally and in writing.
4. Must agree to a motor vehicle record check (MVR), Criminal Background Check, Sex Offender Check, and CAN check, background checks which meet DDID current regulatory standards.
5. Must be computer literate with ability to utilize Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, etc.
