Responsibilities:
- Provide Direct Care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a home care setting
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and ensure the safety and well-being of residents
- Support individuals in participating in community activities and social interactions
- Maintain accurate documentation of resident progress, behaviors, and incidents
Experience:
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a similar caregiving role is preferred
- Knowledge of resident rights and ability to advocate for individuals' needs and preferences
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and strategies for working with individuals with challenging behaviors
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically assist residents as needed
- Experience in dementia care is a plus
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, their families, and other staff members
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to provide high-quality care
- Patience, empathy, and compassion when working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Excellent problem-solving skills to address any issues or concerns that may arise during the course of providing care
