Job Description
Overview:
This position is responsible for producing high quality new custom embroidery graphics used to decorate a wide variety of sports apparel. The digitizer in this position has working knowledge of digitizing software. They are responsible for creating high quality designs that are sensitive to aesthetics, while maintaining specific production and efficiency goals. This position is centered around continued learning, retaining knowledge and developing an even better understanding of all embroidery processes. Decoration processes include: embroidery, applique, cap embroidery, 3D cap embroidery, woven patches, and applique cap embroidery.
This position is a hybrid position working three days onsite and two from home.
Responsibilities:
- Self-assigns projects through an on-line Art/Order dashboard.
- Reads and interprets orders, follows directions indicated on the order.
- Produces custom designs as specified on orders tied to defined product, decoration process, and graphic concepts.
- Follows brand standards, licensing guidelines, garment specifications, and manufacturing requirements; creating a garment decoration that will experience success in the market place.
- Checks spelling on every art.
- Partners with Senior Digitizers and Leads to trouble shoot files and resolve digitizing art issues.
- Works directly with sales representatives, buyers, and licensors, to refine and edit digitized files as needed.
- Partners with Art Support to resolve and/or update order information.
- Works with sewouts to create digitized files which are used for producing orders.
- Manages orders and workflow to effectively meet all deadlines and ship date requirements.
- Saves digitized files to appropriate network locations.
- Assists with auditing and editing digitized files from sources as needed.
- Uses dimensional digitizing to add dimension and visual interest to flat art work.
- Creates designs with correct underlay and densities for garments ordered.
- Must have knowledge of push, pull compensation and how different fabrics react.
- Trouble shoots and solves most issues with digitized files.
- Complete special projects assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Commercial Art, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or equivalent graphic art experience required.
- Knowledge of digitizing software preferred.
- Working knowledge of the Macintosh computer.
- Working knowledge of Adobe – Creative Cloud, specifically Adobe Illustrator.
- Working knowledge and understanding of typography.
- Available to work overtime during peak demands and event seasons (daily and weekends).
